"Love the boots, 1st time I had them on thought about sending them back because so hard to get on and off, the next time I loosen the stings all the way down and they where easy to get on and off. Can't believe how lite they are and how comfortable. I plan to get a pair for my son. I hope I don't get a chance to test them for snake proof, Very good BOOT."

"I purchased these at the end of the summer to replace my old leather snakeboots. I was surprised at how light they were, and the comfort is outstanding. I can walk in these all day without fear of blisters, waterlogged feet (or, of course, snakebites). I'd highly recommend these boots as a great value for those trouncing around in pit viper country."

"Cabelas snake boots are good so far. I have hiked approximately 15 miles since I bought them in early Sept 09. For a high boot I like the light weight, the waterproofness, and the quietness. They are very comfortable once they are laced up to your preference. I found them difficult to get laced, slow to lace each time because of the small loops system used to lace them up! I do like the support to my ankles, and I don' t tire as easily on rocky ground. They have been good to wear on an archery hunt were I used my climber; I was able to work my stand easily with these boots. And they are good in wet tall grass so far. I hope I don't find out about their snake proofness any time soon!"

"I bought these boots to replace a well used pair of Rockys that finally, after six or seven years, began to leak. Their primary purpose was to keep my feet dry while getting in and out of the canoe at the portages and to provide ankle support while portaging with 40 lbs of packs and a 45 lb. canoe on my shoulders. They did just that! They broke in fast and were comfortable to wear. I was impressed. Now we will see how long they will last.
They are a little troublesome to get on and off (hence the 4 out of 5 rating) but this only happens once a day and I am used to it. And, since they work so well, it's worth it.
If the Pinnacle series boots work as well I might consider them as an alternative."

"I've had two pair of these before but they had a few problems. They were still comfortable but the material on the toes wore through and the heels collapsed. The new ones I bought have been redesigned and all the areas that I had trouble with have been redone and made better. No need to break them in. Just put them on and go. I could wear them all day every day no problem. Great traction on rocks too."

"These boots are worth every penny and then some. Yes, they are great quality. Yes, they have not leaked one single drop of water in all that I've put them throught. Yes, after 6 years of owning them, and putting them through a lot, the laces are still in perfect order.
That is nothing compared to what they did this past Sunday (04-12-2009). I was fishing a buddy's pond, set the hook on a Large Mouth Bass, and took a step toward the bank. That same step landed my boot on a 2 foot Water Moccasin. He began striking at my foot. The boots did as advertised.
Not only are they great at keeping the fangs out, they ended up working great as "Snake Stomper Boots". I began stomping on him until I was sure he wasn't going to move. Yes, I could have shot him, as I had my 45 on my hip, but I figured if he bites my boot, the boot bites him back.... That's how I roll!
No chance he'll get me to eat of the forbidden fruit!
Cabels, thank you so much for making this quality product! These are now my favorite boots."

"Purchased these boots for a Florida turkey hunt in south Florida, and they worked great. I did not encounter any snakes but walked through a great deal of water and the boots kept me as dry as a bone. I hiked between 3 and 5 miles per day and the boots were very comfortable. If you are going to use them in cold weather buy a half size bigger, so you can wear two pair of sock. All in all, they are a good investment. I will wear them instead of my rubber boots this spring."

"Purchased these boots for spring turkey hunting. Snakes are not a big concern in the Finger Lakes region of New York but walking through wet, knee high fields is and I wanted the higher gore-tex coverage. I have worn the boots a number of times to break them in and have found them to be very comfortable. I normally wear a 12.5 wide width boot and almost ordered a size 14 due to all the concerns about them being undersized. Fortunately the Cabelas customer rep talked me into the 13 and am I glad she did. They require a little effort to get on, but once I'm in them they're very roomy. The laces are a bit of a pain to tie up but they'll stay tight all day. I love em!"

"I bought these boots for the '08 spring turkey season. The short review is that they are my favorite and most essential piece of gear... please take my turkey vest before these boots.
Light, dry in wading streams, comfortable, great support, tread is just right to me. I've used them in heavy snow with wool socks, not bad either.
Lacing them up takes a little time, but worth it to me for the support. Use a board with a V notch if you want to help get them off your heel.
I have wide feet and high arches, normally a 9.5. I bought that size in the wide size and fits great."

"I hunt in NC where the gun deer season goes from mid Oct thru Jan 1 and the temperature ranges from 85 to the low 20s. I spent many 12 hour days in these boots and for a boot this high they were very comfortable. One aspect of the boot no one has yet commented on was how they actually felt on the foot. I hunted the last 3 years in rubber boots that were very comfortable walking, but after a few hours in the heat my feet were soaked from perspiration. Well these boots feel a lot like rubber boots when you put them on, but breath like other gore-tex products keeping the feet dry. Although many people don’t seem to like the laces because they were time consuming, I think they are worth the hassle because they provided more ankle support when climbing hills and crossing ditches. I wish I had purchased snake boots years ago. Although I have not been bitten by a snake, the comfort in knowing I have these boots on has made the trip in and out of the woods much more relaxing. Instead of continually looking down for one of the five poisonous snakes we have in this part of NC, I am looking up where I should be."

Boots performed when I needed it most,December 1, 2008

"I dropped my first buck of the 2008 season 1/4 mile back in a cypress swamp in southeast Arkansas and these boots were there when I needed it most. Dragging the 160lb 8-pointer out of the swamp and bottomland hardwoods ALONE was a big challenge and I quickly found that dragging the buck along the edge of the swamp was the best approach. So I pulled the buck through four-to-eight inches of water and muck for 1.5 hours and the boots did not leak, nor did I get blisters (I was even wearing light weight socks). Needless to say, I was very pleased that these boots made an uncomfortable situation bearable. It was hot that day and the mosquitoes were out in force, but I was as happy to have these boots on my feet as I was to have taken the buck. Thanks Cabelas ... a great product!"
