Hopping good deal, November 2, 2009
By topgun1 from Moberly, MO.

"A Hopping good deal on these well made Kangaroo leather boots. Light weight, and just enough Thinsulate insulation for "bird season", plus they are Gortex waterproof. Extremely comfortable, required NO break-in time. Low loft linings make for easy on and off. My last pair of these boots lasted seven long, hard seasons of natural and preserve hunting. Can't beat 'em!!"

Kangaroo Leather Boot, October 26, 2009
By Anonymous from SoCal

"Excellent boot for all year round use. Great quality and need very little break-in as they are comfortable always. Not to hot wear in summer and just right for the moderate winters. These are the 9th pair that I have bought over the past 20 years.

Because California has no kangaroos, they don't allow these to be shipped there. So I buy them when I am in Colorado at relatives home.

Got them yetserday, October 21, 2009
By cliffjumper from Vancouver Island

"Well, not a fair review for certain as I had them on around the house for 3 hours after receiving.

If the sole is Vibram, it ought to say so. It only says "Cabela" with zero indication of the manufacturer. I like Vibram GumLite soles and that was a large part of the purchase decision.

The heel is a bit wide and doesn't have a fitting heel counter. My heels slide up & down a lot.

To be fair, really hauling on the laces may get the boot to form better, and a day at the office may be required before fully-judging them. Were I trying them at a store, I wouldn't buy them.

Good points are the foot fits nicely and is very comfortable. The footbed is comfortable. They are light. They look good. If the sole is actually a Vibram, they seem well made for this on sale price-point.

For what I was about to use them for, working the dog at the beach & lake, some easy-ground shore-fishing, and moderate trail walking, they look like they'd fit the bill 100%. It's just the heel-fit and had it not been advertised "Vibram", I wouldn't care about the sole, but may not have ordered them either.

I'll give them their day at the office before deciding to keep or return.

For my light-duty purposes, I'd recommend the Mountain Hiker Elite as a light boot, much better fit for narrower heels, no slip heel and very well-made. Better for a narrower foot, which mine is not, they take a very little bit of breaking-in. But they are a mid-cut which some may not be looking for.

Cheers!

"We live in Georgia and I bought the boots to hunt birds in Montana. They were very comfortable and did not require any "break-in" time. We walked and hiked for most of the day and my feet never ached."

not like they used to be, August 12, 2009
By wurst from Honesdale PA

"I have bought may pairs of these boots, probably 10 pais in the last 4-5 years. They have been the most comfortable and water proof boots that I have ever owned. The last 3 pair have been just the opposite, they leak water, the stiching on top of the shoe ripped, they do not have that well made feal like they used to and the most annoying problem is the squel when you walk - loud and annoying."

Upland boots, June 20, 2009
By castandblastmaster from PA

"I purchased these for the primary purpose of meeting the demands of offshore fishing in Lake Erie at ice out. Wind and spray are a part of life here. With air and water temps in the 40's, these boots performed admirably on our milk runs for trophy smallmouth. In addition, they are sized consistantly with the 4E outfitter series boots I purchased several years ago from Cabela's."

Good for a couple seasons., April 1, 2009
By gspsinia from Northern Iowa

"These boots are light and comfortable. Still not leaking after 3 seasons. Not enough traction, but that is a trade-off for not picking up mud. The top seam of the moc toe is worn down to the sewing and beginning to seperate. Overall a decent boot for the money. Compared to the cost of gas and ammo, new boots every few years is insignificant!"

Kangaroo Boots, January 30, 2009
By Mdeb from Michigan

"As Far as wearability and comfort these boots felt great right out of the box. The Kangaroo leather is a must for the serious bird hunter, that puts on some miles. The leather is light weight and very rugged, after 2 years of heavy use, to include occasionally to the job site, these boots show almost no scratches in the leather.

The reason I gave the boot a fair rating is after only their second season of use they leak, and wet feet annoy me. So now I have to go through the return process, which usually goes great a Cabelas, it's just one more thing I don't have time to do.

cabelas boot, January 25, 2009
By RuffChaser

"I have been wearing my new Cabelas Insulated Kangaroo Upland Boots for about 3 months now and I have found them to be extremely comfortable, absolutely waterproof, and very light. The only complaint is their inability to maintain traction in mud and snow. If you are going to be spending a lot of time in mud or snow in steep terrain, I would recommend a boot with a different tread design. Other than that, these boots are great."

Bulky, January 20, 2009
By Bing13 from Asheville, NC

"I have the uninsulated Kangaroo boots and have been very pleased. I ordered the insulated version for colder days and found them to be very bulky and clumsy to wear. They feel like they are a size too large. Perhaps they need to be to make room for the insulation."

Cabela's Insulated Kangaroo Upland Field Boot, December 30, 2008
By Otter6 from Bird Hunter in Oklahoma

"Good quality components and well made. Finish and appearance are good. Sizing is correct and fit properly. Especially like the easy laces; they go on quickly. Insulation is just right for walking and sitting situations. Only weakness, if it is that, is the boots' sole does not grip much in slick or muddy areas. Comfortable and light. Cabela's service is excellent."

South Korea Pheasant Hunter, December 25, 2008
By jbshunter from Korea Sport Fisherman

"I have had these boots for almost nine months and I have not been able to get the tongue to lay properly. I have worn them hunting several times and have had to adjust them several times through out the day to get comfortable. Decided to give up on them and go back to my old faithful Danner's. A little adjustment on the tongue and the boot would be great until then spend your money on something else."

200 gram Kangaroo Boots, December 17, 2008
By kyfirefighter from Kentucky

"I didn't have much time to break these boots in before going to S. Dakota for a week long pheasant hunt in mid December. This is the only boot I have ever been able to wear all week long without hurting at least one spot on my feet. These boots were great! I hunted in 18 degree below 0 wind chills and deep snow. The boots kept my feet warm, comfortable and dry, even when breaking through ice and standing still in deep snow blocking pheasants."
