Very nice paint scheme,
November 13, 2009
By pahtnr
from Utah by way of Pennsylvania
|
"The detail is awesome. Keel is very nice and provides a good ride on the water. Very nice size, brings the birds in from a distance. Swivel heads and 2 types of heads, low and high, are really nice. Paint seems durable.
the con: the water plugs for the drake heads is not too easy to install."

Leaks and slaps,
November 6, 2009
By marcj33

|
"I really wanted these deeks to be perfect. The color is great and the size is a good middle ground. I read that there were leak problems but that cabelas had corrected them. Not so with my order.
I have a dozen from last year and a dozen from this year and both sets leak. Severla Deeks have holes in the bottom as well as splits along the keel. Those I bought this year do not have the hole in the bottom but still have the hole under the head which you have to seal with an included plastic cork type insert. I used silicone.
Saddly of my 24 at least 10 leak and I'll be replacing them this season.
beyond that when the water gets a little choppy the decoys slap on the surface. Not good. There was plenty of line out and they werent riding high and then gettign pulled down by the weight. There was line laying on the bottom.
all in all i love the color and the size but the build and float doesnt work."

realistic decoys,
August 16, 2009
By ishootwaterfowl
from Ferndale, WA
|
"i bought a dozen of these a couple days ago down at the local Cabela's. These are by far the best looking decoys i have seen. The heads are a pain to get on and the air plugs also. To skip using the air plugs i found out i could just use gorillas glue over the holes and keep them air tight. Now just waiting to see how well the paint can stand up to the weather"

cabelas realimage mallard decoys,
July 28, 2009
By SAT1
|
"Body cast is very tough. Very nice image detail. They look like the real thing floating. Heads come off to easy. Paint on the heads chips and comes off even easier. You'll have to repaint the heads after a couple of trips out. A divider bag is a must to store and to transport decoys in, protecting the paint. If the paint was of better quality (More durable) and the head connections were better designed this would be a 5 star product."

real image woes,

By kjnjfg354654

"they look good but they dont last.Ibought a dozen with a slotted decoy bag, and the paint on the drakes started coming off after about 10 hunting trips. I was very careful with these decoys because I wanted them to last a long time . Oh well, I returned them for a refund. Cant knock the customer service."

real image mallard decoys,
January 13, 2009
By waterfowler48seasons
from southern Ill,and IN
|
"The image of this decoy is good and they are solid however when used in rain conditions the drakes tend to suck water in the head cavity. This in turn sends the decoy into a tilted keel appearance that is at best rather goofy looking. To get the water out due to the head well design one must drill a hole in the highest part of the back of the decoy....bad situation. The back of the decoy funnels the rain water right into the head cavity where it is then sucked straight into the main body of the decoy....very frustrating to address at first light in a duck blind! The paint needs to be a little more robust also as its scars very easily. This product could be the best out there it just needs some real practical engineering to knock the "setbacks" out of the design."

"I bought 2 dozen of these decoys and i am very unsatisfied. I used them only 4 or 5 times and they are begining to fill with water. I take real good care of all my decoys especialy these ones and there is no reson for this to occur. I dont think I will ever buy another one of these decoys. The only thing I liked was the paint scheme wich I thought was fairly realistic."

Real image mallards,

By kyfirefighter

"So far holding up good, more time needed to determine paint toughness though. Look good in water overall however I have noticed the green heads look like they have snow on their backs at certain angles, don't like that. Maybe need to change the paint scheme a little on their backs."

Hens look peach,
December 17, 2008
By badbean
from Aberdeen, Maryalnd
|
"I bought a dozen of these when they first came out a couple years ago and they have performed well and have taken most of my abuse very well. They are oversized and look outstanding.
I decided I would buy another dozens of these dekes to enlarge my spread. Well they were delivered and I strung them up with weights for the next day's watefowl expedition.
Once I got my spread all set it then occurred to me the new hens were a different color than the old hens. They are much lighter and actually appear somewhat of a light brown / almost peachy color. It is very noticable in my spread when they are next to one of the older hens. Did they change their painting scheme to make these so light colored or are these some sort of production error dekes? The drakes look fine though and I love the swivel heads."

NICE DECOY,

By PepperMc

"AFTER MANY PURCHASES OF VARIOUS BRANDS I FEEL THIS ONE IS A GREAT BUY FOR THE MONEY. GOOD DETAIL AND THE HEADS LOOK GOOD. REMEMBER TO PUT THE LITTLE PLUGS IN UNDER THE HEAD BEFORE YOU PUT THE HEADS ON THE DRAKES. TIME WILL TELL IF THE PAINT STAYS ON THEM OVER THE YEARS."

Awful decoys,
November 17, 2008
By Avoid
|
"If you like decoys that :
arrive with paint chipping off(breast of drakes), some greenheads that are more yellow than green, decoys that are a major hassel to assemble - airplugs, extremely tight head/neck fits - and are so fragile(paint) that you need to buy a $50 slot bag to keep them in, than these are for you."

Excellent product,
November 8, 2008
By Quackman
from Tulsa, OK
|
"I bought 2 dozen of the Real Image mallards prior to this season, and have only been able to use them on three hunts including this morning. On all 3 hunts, they have performed great! This morning, my buddy and I were able to bag more ducks than anyone (public land) which I should at least partly attribute to these new decoys. I highly recommend slotted bags to protect your investment so they can continue to perform for many years to come."
