tail section from the ground, yet not so bright that it would degrade their night vision when used in the
cockpit, the A2 Aviator is perfect for anyone needing a high and low beam in a single long-running
flashlight. In other words, it's perfect for campers, hikers, boaters, everyone. Constructed of
aerospace-grade aluminum with a super-rugged, military specification hard-anodized finish, and
powered by two
3-volt lithium batteries. The 5.6-inch, 4-ounce Aviator features a high-output incandescent lamp
surrounded by three LEDs set in a specially designed parabolic reflector. A unique digitally controlled
two-stage switching mechanism allows the user to choose LEDs for close-up work or the high output
lamp for full-power applications. Digital current regulation circuitry provides a more consistent level of
incandescent light output and color temperature for the useable life of the batteries. Even after the
Aviator's batteries have been depleted to the point that they will no longer power its incandescent lamp,
plenty of energy remains to power the LEDs for many more hours. The digital current regulation
circuitry also extends the life of the incandescent lamp by allowing for a "soft start" instead of
subjecting the tungsten filament to the potentially damaging voltage spike that occurs when turning on
an unregulated light. The high-output incandescent lamp produces 50 lumens of white light for 60
minutes while the three LEDs produce three lumens max output for 15 hours, followed by over 30
hours of minimal output. The patented lock-out tailcap feature allows the light to be locked in the off
position to prevent unintentional activation during storage or transportation. Scratch-resistant
Pyrex® lens window, removable stainless steel pocket clip.

"My son is a pilot and I am a police officer we both have used many different flashlights in our careers and hobby's as we both fish and hunt. I can say many flashlights have not held up to the standards that I thought they would. The SureFire had been recomended by many pilot friends and other police officers but thought they were over priced. I recently purchased a SureFire for my son for Christmas and he can't say enough about it. When He is flying I wanted him to have the best regardless of the cost. He has assured me it was money well spent as it has delivered in several instances where a dependable flashlight was necessary. I plan on purchasing one myself and have recommended that the agency I work for consider purchasing these lights for the officers in my unit. The beam is crisp and when extra bright illumination is called for in a compact light it delivers."

"Ok the price might be a bit high for a flashlight, But after using it you'll be glad you bought it. The LED'S are great while working around your campsite, setting up the camp gear inside the tent, reading, or use it Boating or while fishing to stringing line, searching the tackle box, or even better use is when traveling or around the house use the led's to navigate the house without turning on all the lights, checking the fuse box, etc. The bright incandecent bulb is bright to illuminate wildlife in the distance, navigate trails at night, spot marker boeys from a distance away while on the boat, or around the house when a little extra light is needed while doing stuff. The A2 has a Soft Start which helps to extend the life of the bulb so replacing it does not need to be done so often. Soft Start begins by turning on the LED'S and if you keeping turning the light then it will gently turn on the Incandecent bulb, without soft start the full charge of the batteries and quick start found in so many flashlights wear out bulbs faster and cause people to replace them more often. Beside' Sufefire has a great no hassle replacement if anything (not including the bulb, replacement bulbs are around $25, but last for many uses or years depending how often you use them and light is regulated and will stay the same brightness until the batteries are used up, even if the incandecent doe not light, you have ENOUGH JUICE IN THE BATTERIES to keep the LED'S lit for many hours yet even after there's not enough battery juice to power the incandecent, the Led's stay lit till the batteries are completly drained to nothing) goes defective on the light for as long as you own it. Now that is a great back up bargin. Try one not just outdoors but around your home and everyday use you'll grow to appreciate it if not love it. The uses for it are endless, it's a great light and I highly recomend it"

"I am an avid hunter and fisherman. I have purchased numerous flashlights over the last several years and always end up wanting a different one because I just am not satisfied. I should have stopped throwing my money away on junk lights a long time ago, because the Surefire Aviator is an awesome light. Because of the xenon and led capabilities, it is a wonderful hunting light. I use the led lights walking into and out of the woods when only small amounts of light are needed. When tracking or searching ground, the xenon light is super bright. I would recommend this light to anyone who wants the best. The downside is it is pretty expensive for a flashlight. However, this light will last for many many years."
