Terrible knife,

"When I first bought this knife I thought it would be perfect for all aspects of taking care of game in the field. This knife is a joke. The knife would not hold an edge, I was still working on the first quarter when it lost it's edge. Unfortunately I had fully trusted that this knife would be able to do the job at hand and had not put any other knives in my pack. Needless to say by the time I got to the fourth quarter this knife was extremely dull. It also has a built in saw which I thought would be great for removal of lower portion of the legs and removal of head. What a joke, a finger nail file would have sawed through the bone quicker. I would not buy this knife again nor would I recommend it. There are better knives out there that are cheaper."

"Was excited to get this as a xmas gift but after use went back to my old knives. Very uncomfortable grip esp in cold weather as the folded blades stick up to high which dig into your palm when using any of the three blades."

"when i read the reviews on this knife the said the hook stuck out a bit and it dose but its not real pointy so it dosent bother me the only thing i dont like is that to put the center blade in it was kinda hard but tht was no problem. when i took it out of its case the blades were razor sharp and i cant wait to use it"

"The guthook point was sharp and made the knifle a little uncomfortable to hold when the blade was stored. Once I filed it down it was AOK. Can't wait to try it out when season opens (01/May/09) in Germany."

"this is a very nice knife. the only problem is when you are using another blade the guthook blade sticks out. i would reccomend this knife to a friend or really anyone who asked though. razor sharp blade. all together great knife cabelas. keep up the good work."

"The original knife main cutting blade broke at the lazer cut-out antlers when put under a sideload. I now have a free replacement and will see how it holds up. This may have been a defect in the blade, but I'm hesitant to attempt another side loading of my replacement knife. PA Hunter."

"I am concerned with the Cabela logo being laser burned thru the base of the cutting blade. My concern being that this may weaken the strength of the blade and cause it to break under heavy use. Hopefully this won't happen and I'll be happy with the knife. Other than that concern it seems to be well made and I'm sure I'll put it thru it's paces during hunting season."

"I purchased this knife to replace a folding 2-blade knife from a market-leading manufacturer that simply didnt hold up - it broke after only three year's use. After using the Cabela's Outfitter Series Folding 3-Blade Knife this year during three weeks of deer hunting, I couldn't be more pleased. This knife provides every feature I expected out of the other knife, plus provides the mini bone-saw - the missing ingredient I really needed every time I went to properly field-dress my deer. "This is a nice and sturdy knive, but when the guthook is folded, it sticks out quite far from the handle. This causes the point of the guthook to poke into the palm of one's hand. If I would have known this before buying it, I would have kept looking for a different knife. I don't have any questions about the toughness of the blades, though."

"I recently recieved a free fixed blade Cabelas Outfitter knife with a purchase of a Omega Z5 T/C muzzleloader. I thought the quality of the blade was exceptional. Even though it's Imported. I realized that I was lacking a decent field knife. So I purchased this Tri -Folder. It seems stout enough for field dressing, postive locking blade, Gut hook, and Bone saw. All these things are in a nice wood handled tool with a great black leather sheath. Thought it would be great to have all these things on one knife. Have yet to use it. Seems like it will hold up very nice when the time comes? Hope to be able to put it to some use the hunting season. Can actually give this a recomendation to any hunter looking to lighten the load on there hunt. Keeping it simple and all in one place is a nice touch for us folks in the field."

"This knife is great! I used the knife this year for deer hunting and gutted several deer with it. The blade held a great edge and is still as sharp as when I bought it. The gut hook worked wonderful. It's just deep enough to cut all the way through the hide but not into the gut. The saw cut through bone like it was butter. Through bone, flesh, hide, and hair this knife held up beautiful and for the price it is definitely worth it!"

"This is a great value for the money spent. I bought this knife to have a compact set of tools to field dress game in the field.
This knife is three tools in one. The blades stay sharp, all three lock open and are easy to open and close even with gloves on. It gets the job done.
Well made, fills the hand and the engraving on the main blade is a neat touch."

Good, but fragile,

"I got this knife for Christmas last year, and after about 3 minutes of use the knife blade broke. What you don't see without going to the store is that the Cabela's Outfitter logo is cut all the way THROUGH the base of the blade, creating a very significant weak point. I was using a simple scraping motion with very little applied pressure that caused the blade to snap right through the logo. Cabela's was great and replaced the knife, and I've avoided using the blade for such activities. I've since had no problems, but it's always in the back of my mind that this one will break, too."
