Outfitter Hunting Knife.,

"Last deer season at the Camp in Southern Mississippi I was impressed with the efficiency of my friends skinning knives with "zippers". Deer and wild hogs, were cleaned quickly, efficiently and without nicking the gut.
After a lot of research, I decided on the Cabelas Outfitters Knife. I really like the feel of this knife, it fits into the palm of your hand like it was custom made, it has a good heft to it and it is razor sharp.it also looks really good, the wood is real pretty.
If you clean a lot of animals you will enjoy this knife, it not only looks and feels good it is a very good at its job. I am looking forward to taking this knife to New Mexico in September, bowhunting for Elk,hopefully we can put it to the test on a 6x6 Bull.
The only negative remark I have is that the sheath is not the same quality as the knife and you will definitely wear it out if you use this knife a lot."

"I actually ordered these knives as gifts, I bought myself one last year. They stay sharp with extented use. I have skinned Hogs and Deer without having to stop and sharpen the knife during the process. After finishing the job, just a few quick strokes on a quality stone and it is ready for the next job. Purchase with confidence."

hunting knive on a bear,

"I recently purchased two of the cabela's outfitter series. On 8/8/09 opening day for deer and bear season. My younger brother killed a bear. All of our friends pulled out their knives to skin the bear. After one of the guys went through all the knives, I gave him my knife to try out. He loved it and put all the other knives aside. He used the cabela's outfitter series knife until he finished."

Good Starter Knife,

"Reason for 3-star rating: The handle material gets slippery when it's wet (could be dangerous while field dressing game). The leather sheath is not the prettiest/best quality (I'm waiting for the snap on it to break).
It is definatly not my favorite knife, but it's sharp and it should get the job done. Overall, not bad for the money.
This may be a good starter knife for a young hunter. The knife itself is sharp and looks cool. An aftermarket sheath can be added if the factory supplied one breaks. Definitely priced right."

They stand in awe!,

"I have used this knife to gut all my game in Germany for 4 years now. Wild boar, red and roe deer. Germans are generally pretty quick to criticize while observing one gut an animal. I haven't heard a complaint yet. The knife blade is razor sharp, holds a great edge and super easy to sharpen. The serated blade cuts through even the biggest pelvic bone and ribs of wild boar with ease. The gut hook makes a nice line to follow down the belly all the way to the throat."

"I bought the serrated guthook and it's VERRRRYYYY SHARP!!!! It is a fantastic knife that I am looking forward to using this upscoming deer season. The wood handle is gorgeous and the blasde is very durable. Unlike other reviews the sheath it comes in is very durable, and unlike one reviewer said it does not have any defects in the blade whatsoever. This is an awesome knife!"

"I bought this knife on sale at a very good price and was overall satisfied with it. It was hair shaving sharp right out of the box and appears very sturdy and almost overbuilt for it's intended use. The only issues I had with this knife was a slightly loose handle (I glued it solid after) and a sheath that is cheap looking.
Overall I would recommend this knife because in spite of some minor issues you get a lot of knife for the money."

Nice Solid Knife,

"I purchased both the skinner and hunter models in this knife. Both knives are very well built and good looking. Blades were very sharp when received. The only reason I give these knives 4 stars is the sheaths. The sheaths are very flimsy and dont match the quality of the blades. I got my knives during a sale and will make new sheaths for the knives. Not a big deal because of the price I paid for them. Overall a nice solid knife that feels well balanced in the hand."

broken snap,

"i got the gut hook knife free with a muzzle loader i bought, even though i was sent the wrong knife. i was supposed to the get the traditional hunter, but i am not complaining about that. the gut hook has real nice feel to it and is a very good looking knife. it is also very sharp. i'm looking forward to next season to try it out. i really don't have any issues with it. the scabbard on the other hand, the snap broke off the first time i opened it. right out of the box as i was unpacking it. i am going to call and see if i can get it replaced. i don't think it should be a problem. cabela's has great customer service."

"The Outfitter knives come out of the box extremely sharp and ready for heavy use. The knife is well made, especially for the price. It is well balanced and fits nicely in the hand. The only criticism I have is that the scales are not smooth with the spine of the knife, but again for the price I would not hesitate to recommend this knife."

"This is the first knife I've seen that has a similar shape as an "ulu" that we use for just about everything here in Ak. Got it for the spring bear hunt but got to use it for dehiding some moose meat. What an edge! Wish I would of found this one sooner. I had trouble figuring out which knife I was receiving, the catalog was very confusing as to what model was what."
