vertical stuffer and motor combo,November 3, 2009
By anytinginacasingfrom Northern , Wisconsin
"Being a seasoned veteran in making sausage , I was very pleased with 11 lbs stuffer and motor combo I purchased ! At times it can be difficult to find someone to help , so the hands free operation was a breeze . I attempted snack sticks first and any person who has performed this task with a choprite cast iron stuffer will admit it is difficult at best . I was sucsessful ! Clean-up was easy as the smaller unit easily fit in the dishwasher . I will be purhasing the 30 lbs stuffer for larger batches of summer sausage ."

30# meat Stuffer/motor,February 16, 2009
By thewizzfrom Sault Ste Marie Ontario Canada
"We purchased both the stuffer and motor instore 16 months ago in Dundee Michigan. The first time we used the unit, the motor burnt out within 200# of meat through it . Thank goodness for the crank handle or we would have lost 800# of meat. The motor was replaced in a very timely fashion by customer service. This year, 8 months later, we used the unit again and after 50# of meat, the motor started to make grinding noises and without warning, the gears for the stuffer plunger rod stripped and jammed the unit up. We had a heck of a time to release the plunger rod from the meat in the tube. We then switched to the #32 grinder to stuff the remainder of the 500# of meat we had for the weekend. I will be returning both the motor and stuffer and exchange these for another grinder so we have one grinder setup for grinding and the other for stuffing. I would not recommend any stuffer unless the manufacturer changes these cheap alloy type gear units for solid steel ones with either sealed bearings or oillite brass sleeves that will stand up to the rigorous stuffing that quantity of meat."

Not up to Cabelas usual standards - cheap stuffer,January 28, 2009
By wkmt
"We've been making venison sausage/snack sticks for 20 years. We mostly used the old cast iron stuffers, which work but can be hard on your arm. We also used the big geared stuffers, which work fantastic, but cost quite a bit. If you are thinking of saving money and using these stuffers, don't do it. They feel like cheap toys and will eventually break somewhere. The gears are some type of soft metal, so you risk the chance of this getting in your meat. We had over 100 pounds of meat ready to go the other night, put it in the stuffer and on the first 2 cranks the plastic plunger broke into 3 pieces. So it looks like I may have lost 100 pounds of meat. Cabelas customer service is very helpful and got us another as soon as they could. We got the meat stuffed, but the meat leaked around the plunger again, so I'm sure if we kept using this one it would break also. I am sending the new one back also.
We added plenty of water to loosen the meat to make it easier to stuff. I'm not a big fan of adding a bunch of water to the meat. In 20 years we've never had to add that much water to anything to get it stuffed. Anyway I'm hoping Cabelas will try and find a better stuffer. I wouldn't mind paying more for something that works!!
Thanks for the great customer service anyway!!!"

poor quality gears,January 22, 2009
By JLinstrumfrom Davenport, Washington
"We got one of these units because of the size of the hopper. We were stuffing pepper stick which is quite dense in addition to being pushed through a small nozzle. The handle was positioned on the reduction gears for maximum pressure with least effort (more cranks per foot of material, but easier to turn the handle) I am not kidding you when I say on the 3rd revolution of the crank on a brand new unit, a gear tooth broke and this unit was done! We went back to our old stuffers (the cast iron kind that have been around for 100 years)which ours only hold maybe 10 lbs, in order to get the job done. If you are stuffing regular german style sausage or summer sausage, I am sure this unit will work for you, just never plan on making anything which uses sheep casing you will be dissapointed with this product!"

Cabelas Vertical Stuffer,January 6, 2009
By TimW21
"Very dissapointed with product. The plunger does not fit the canister well enough to stop the meat mixture form squezing up around the sides. I sent the first one back and had a new one shipped and experienced the same thing. This needs to be fixed so that no matter which stuffing tube you use, it doesn't have this happen. Also a lot of meat is left in the bottom that you are not able to push out with the plunger."

Cabela's com-grade stuffers 11 lbs.,December 3, 2008
By brokcofrom Denver, Co
"I made 75 lbs. of sausage. Worked like a charm. My dad made a sausage stuffer years ago. His stuffer was hard to use and the meat would not flow thru very easy. The Cabela's stuffer worked great, the meat went thru the tube very easily. No problems, I did not add any water or anything to the meat. I was very impressed. I plan on getting the motor attachment next."

commercial grade 11# sauasage stuffer,November 20, 2008
By stufflessinmoretimefrom kansas
"Gears are poor quality, used it for pepper sticks and summer sausage and had teeth break off of the plunger shaft and main gear. I only used it three times but unfortunately the third time when it broke it had been over a year and the manufacturing company would not stand behind it. I used commercial grade equipment for many years when I was a meat cutter, the only thing close to commercial grade on this stuffer is the price. Had a relative have the same thing happen to his only it happened the first time and it was replaced. With the broken gears I can still use it as a 5.5# stuffer once I run the plunger down past the bad spot. If you buy this put it to the test within the first year."

30# stuffer,October 6, 2008
By Johnrkenfrom Alaska
"I am very unhappy with the fact that the plunger does not reach the bottom of the cylinder. This creates a lot of waste because you are left with a couple of pounds of sausage that the plunger will not push out, not good when you are making smaller costom batches of sausage. Definately not commercial grade because a comercial shop could not afford this type of waste. If shipping wasn't such a problem from alaska I would send it back."

30lb stuffer,September 2, 2008
By 234guyfrom Spokane, WA
"If you want a stuffer to do sausage this will work great for a few years. It will not do snack sticks no matter what you try. It is too tall and will not hold up to the force of doing snack sticks. It could be a great product with better gears and a redesigned tub holding mechanism. (This one just leans forward about half way down.) For the money it is adequate but save some coin or go together with someone else and spend twice as much if you want a stuffer to use the rest of your life."

"Ordering process went smooth. Had the product shipped standard rate and received it in 3 days. 1st attempt at stuffing sausage and went with great ease. Did various size casings and different recipes. No problems. Love it. Should not have waited as long as I did. Big hit bringing brats and peppersticks to family gathering and to fellow co-workers."

Review 20 for Cabela's Commercial-Grade Vertical Stuffers
"This unit handles all my needs with no issues, sure beats the old hand grinder sausage stuffer I was brought up on. I'll have to park that one or hand it off to a beginner. Smooth operation with an almost effortless ease on the crank handle. Should have stepped up to this unit a long time ago. Only problem now will be enough game to keep me stuffing, as for what's left over in the tube. Onto the frying pan and that's all she wrote."
