Deck Plates,August 5, 2009
By Reg100from Harvest, Alabama
"The plates were purchased as a replacement to one that i lost the cover. The dimension were slightly larger than the previous unit.
Installation was not a problem. I used a jig saw to cut the deck approx 3/8" larger. Remember: drill pilot holes when installing screws. The holes were drilled and my old screws were pan head and need to be countersink screws.
I would have been a good idea for the plate to provide the correct screws for installation. With the incorrect screws, the plate does not screw down flush (tight). It leave a small gap due to the head of the screws pushing up on the lip of the cover. The plate is sealed but the plate lip tends to flair upward and could end up being an area to get cut if walking across it with bare feet.
Installation took 10 minutes. Tools required: jigsaw, silicone caulk, marker, drill/bits (screw holes), countersink screws (#8) and screw driver. And Time!"

Sure-Seal Deck Plates,March 25, 2008
By ccso280k9from Down-Town Gliden, NC
"These deck plates are water proof and do a good job to seal out the water. I like the cover covering the mounting screws. Now the bad news ~~ I think the cover plates should be made from a thicker material if mounted in the floor and you have to walk or stand on the covers. ccso280k9"

Make some room,July 9, 2007
By Astronomyfrom Winston Salem, N.C.
"I have installed 3 of these deck plates on my fishing boat to make areas below the fishing decks more useful for storing navigation lights and mooring lines. The only thing that would be nice to have would have been a cutout for the layout of the hole that needed to be cut in the deck. That would have made it easier for alinement. After installation I tested the seal and it passed with no water leaching into the new areas."

Sure-Seal? Deck Plates,November 30, 2006
By TheBatfrom Iowa on the Mississippi
"The plastic is kind of soft. I removed the screws and repositioned it and the screw holes were deformed. I had replaced a harder plastic plate that was a different color. It looks good installed but I doubt it will be as durable as a harder plastic model."
