Thor's hammer,November 20, 2009
By NVCoyotefrom Northern Nevada
"My son has shot 3 deer with these bullets. All have dropped like they were hit with Thor's Hammer. These are great bullets. 1/2" groups at 100 yards and 100% weight retention. We have only recovered 1 bullet. The other two were complete pass-through even after hitting heavy bone."

30-30 marlin,November 15, 2009
By GabeHunterfrom North Carolina
"I worked up a load with the 150 gn TSX with 30gn of IMR-3031. worked it to a 2" group at 100yards with open sights. took two doe last week with 1 shot each. first droped, second ran about 50 yards. Tracking on the second was no problem, as these rounds throw a huge blood trail, and was able to track even in the rain. Very pleased with the results on the round and wont be using anything else."

Very accurate,November 9, 2009
By EagleNEfrom NE
"In preperation for a trip to Africa, I tried every quality bullet I could get my hands on in .338. These were the most accurate. I took a blue wildebeest, red heartebeest, zebra, kudu, and two gemsbok with the 225 grain Barnes. All were one shot kills and ranged from 50 yards to 350 yards. Very pleased with the performance."

Barnes TripleX for 300 WinMag,October 12, 2009
By DocfromNEfrom Nebraska
"I've had good success with the 180 gr. Barnes Triple-Shock X bullets on large game in the past....in the 300 WinMag and loaded in front of IMR4831 or Reloder22, the bullet predictably demonstrates excellent: accuracy, penetration and bullet integrity. This most recent purchase is in preparation for African Plains Game in 2010."

Great accuracy,,October 7, 2009
By RCF112from Schnecksville, PA
"After purchasing a Browning A Bolt Trophy Medallion .300Win Mag. for an upcoming Elk hunt in Utah, I began reloading for this riflle. I tried 3 different powders starting with light loads up to maximum. I tried three different brand bullets all in 18o grain. I achieved no better accuracy than about 2.5 inch groups at 100 yds. I was quite perplexed since I have been reloading ammo for over 40 years. All my sporting rifles shoot at least .5 inch groups with my reloads. I use Wilson straight line dies with an arbor press, and inside neck ream the cases after resizing. A great gunsmith in my area told me to try Barnes bullets and Federal match primers. I immediately got .75 inch groups. I moved to 200 yds. and had 3 shots touching one another. I have long been told of the great killing power of these bullets but was unaware of there great accuracy. I will now always purchase Barnes bullets . They are pricey but I want accuracy, and that for me is worth the price! I went to Utah, and shot a bull elk at 289 yds. The bull was dead before it hit the ground with one shot. The next day I shot a cow at 264 yds. It also went down like a ton bricks."

Nice bullets,October 7, 2009
By someoneinpafrom Central PA
"Definitely the nicest bullets that I have loaded for 30-30 in a while. Using Ramshot TAC behind this bullet. Haven't field tested it yet, but fires nicely and through water jugs you can retrieve the famous petaled brass. (5-6 large water jugs min)
Just remember to move your seater die waaaaay up before trying to load them due to their shape."

Old gun is new again,September 30, 2009
By Williamtellsfrom Central, Illinois
"My old Remington 700 BDL shoots like new again! I got the 150 gr. 7mm bullets and started to work up a load. I used the enclosed data provided by Barnes. I made three low end loads and fired them at the range at 200 yards. MOA groups=Less than 2 inches. I loaded in increments of 1/2 grain through the range that Barnes recommended. All of my loads were shooting so close that I could not tell the difference. It did seem that the higher powered loads were printing a little tighter. I went out again today, no wind, and shot at 300 yards. My three shot group was right at 3 inches.
I am going to load up at the higher end load for my elk hunt in November. Hopefully we will get to see some real life bullet performance!
I am sold on Barnes. I will be getting the Barnes MZ muzzleloader bullets next."

Barnes .375 Tripple Shock X Bullets,September 7, 2009
By wckyfrom Western KY.
"Group better than any other of several brands tried in my Ruger "Alaskan" .375 Ruger rifle. (One jagged hole at 100 yds, with "Big Game" powder). You MUST start with a really clean bore (all traces of copper jacket removed) after useing other brands of bullets. Use copper solvent and brush the bore till clean before use of the Barnes."

Great bullets $$$,August 24, 2009
By 1RobertWAfrom Wisconsin Rapids ,Wisconsin
"I have found Barnes TSX bullets to be all that I hoped for! Very accurate when matched with the right reloading components and tolerances. Reliable expansion at all reasonable velocities. Game stopping penetration as well. I feel that they are a bit spendy though which is why I only use them when hunting for game in need of a superior penatration/expansion bullet is needed!"

150 gn TSX in 308 Win,August 21, 2009
By DirtyDogBarksfrom Long Beach, Ca
"I have an old Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in 308 Win that I use on all of my hunts for deer, wild pigs and antelope. For years I used my favorite load was the Sierra 150 gn bt, the groups were allways under an inch. I found that these Barnes TSX bullets are just as accurate, and that I did not have to make any adjustment to my scope settings, they impact the same spot as the Sierras do at 100yds. I have shot two wild boars with these Barnes TSX bullets, and found that they open up faster and completely penetrate these pigs almost lengthways these were both one shot kills, and the pigs dropped on the spot. One Boar weighed 300lbs. I have shot eight pigs with the Sierras and they never penetrated completely. These bullets definately improve on th game taking ability of the 308 Win. Now I shoot the Sierras for practice and use the Barnes TSX bullets for all of my hunting."

Barnes TSX Bullets,July 23, 2009
By 2405mikefrom Redding California
"I recently started reloading the Barnes TSX for most of my rifles and found the sweet spot for my 7mm Remington Magnum with the 140 grain TSX. After trying several different seating depths I found a load, near maximum, that produced sub MOA groups at 100 yards. I tested this load at a measured 400 yards off the bench and it produced an honest 5 shot group that mesured 3 inches. I am looking forward to using this bullet and load this fall."

My rifle has a 1 in 9 twist and the bullets arn,t properly stabilized ............... I have to go with the 62 gr TSX ...... And start looking for a 1 in 7 twist rifle ...........These 70 gr bullets are what I want to be shooting ..."

Outstanding Performance and Accuracy,May 4, 2009
By cwzuckfrom Tennessee
"I've been using Barnes exclusively for my 7mm Rem Mag and 284 Winchester for over 12 years. The 150 X, and now TSX have accounted for over 200 whitetails, three mule deer and six hogs, all with one shot kills ranging from 15 to 300 yards. Of all these harvests, I've only recovered 4 bullets, every one of which was shot either face on or quartering. Bullets always found with no less than 98% weight retention and passed through the full length of the animal, found under the hide on butchering. You can't ask for better terminal performance.
Accuracy in the 7 Mag is 3/4 inch at 100 yards at 2950 fps. My favorite, a customized A bolt in 284 Winchester shoots a 5 shot 100 yard group measuring .440". I'm sold completely on these bullets. Anecdotally, my son's TC Encore with custom 21 inch barrel shoots 1/2" groups with this same bullet."

When they are good they're very very good,April 25, 2009
By TominCAfrom Campbell, CA
"I have tried barnes Triple Shock in 270, 243, 7-08 and 223. With very different results. First the bad news;
My 270 CDL will put factory into 1.5" and handloads under 1" - but Barnes go into 3 to 4". Nosler E-tip did great in this rifle.
Now the good news: My son's very accurate and consistant Tikka 243 will put these into about 3/4" at 100 yards (85 grain TSX). But it hates the Nosler e-tip. (4"). This rifle consistantly shoots 5/8" groups with Sierra 100's.
My nephews Rem 700 7-08 will put these bullets into 1 hole at 100 yaards - which isn't bad for a low end youth rifle!! It will group the e-tips into 1.5 "
My CZ 223 with 1/12 twist which usally groups about 3/4" will shoot Barnes into 3" on a good day. My Fulton 1/9 twist 223 puts a 62 gr TSX handload into 5/8" and will shoot the 55 grain TSX into 7/8". Both are very sensitive to LOA. It may be the twist rate that causes the difference in accuracy but I suspect there are other factors such as barrel diameter.
Overall they are difficult to work up loads for and the Barnes manual calls for a lot of powder you don't see much. If you are going after big game they can be very accurate to "accurate enough" but the 223 loads were finicky and hard to work up. I could never use them for ground squirrels in my CZ 223. They MUST have a clean barrel to perform well. That means REALLY CLEAN with no bullet jacket residue from the standard bullet metal jackets. I use Wipe Out to get rid of copper. It is like neucular warfare for copper and you don't have to scrub!
Barnes: When they are good they are very very good. When they are bad they are awful."
