You are here: Midge Larva and Pupa Nymphs
|
Many fly-fishermen find it hard to believe that something as small as a size 20 fly can catch trout 20 inches and larger. But it happens all the time where midges are plentiful. They are prolific in very cold water that varies little in temperature, such as the tailwaters below major dams, but can also be found in great numbers in lakes, ponds and streams throughout the U.S. Midge patterns can be particularly effective in the winter months, because they remain active in extremely cold temperatures while other insects are more dormant.
