"Works as advertised with no problems. No! you cannot use your computers card reader to load your maps and waypoints. Why it does not come with the softwear is beyond me."

"This device is needed to allow you to write your own cards for Lowrance GPS devices. I originally was put off my needing to buy a propriatary card reader. But understood the need so Lowance can protect their data and product.
You are limited to 5 memory cards so register large memory cards to keep your flexibility in the future. You can re-write a registered card as many times as you want.
The system is very robust and I am pleased with it. I love the Lowance GPS and have a pocket model as well as a boat dash model. The memory cards work in both. I am well satisfied."
