Strong nymph for big trout,October 5, 2007
By itfbb1from Idaho; trophy trout only
"This nymph produces well at times when other callibaetis patterns don't. This pattern simulates both the callibaetis as well as chironomid, both prevelant in western stillwaters. I have had fish up to 10# take them even at the last minute of bringing the fly up to cast. I keep several dozen of these in my flybox at all times, and fish them consistantly from spring through to ice-over. It is worked best off the breaks of weed beds, both parrallel to, and perpindicular. Dry lines, or intermediate work best for me in the early a.m. and setting sun. I have picked up fish in the summer as well with a Type 3 uniform sink line."

Must Have for Western Stillwater,May 17, 2007
By Coho2001from AZ
"This is an absolutely essential fly for anyone fishing high western stillwaters from spring to summer. It has taken fish for me when many other patterns have failed. It obviously can be fished near the surface during a hatch, or fish it deeper at the beginning of a hatch and make sure that you fish it all the way up to the surface since a lot of hits come as the nymph is rising. Grey has been the best color for me."
