"I would have given this unit a poor rating, but I did have the ProMite 5/5/03 charger for 3 years. It worked fine for 2 years, but this spring the charger burned out, and either overcharged, or didn't charge my 3 new deep cycle batteries, which ruined all 3 batteries, and forced me to purchase 3 new batteries before I went fishing this spring.
Another issue is that the cables are only 6' long, so you can only place the batteries that you charge 12' apart.
If you do purchase this unit, make sure that you check the charger and batteries throughout the year."

"This is the second one of these I have purchased. This one for my new boat. Works well and have had no problems.
This model works well if you fish weekends or have adequate time in between charges. If you need a faster charge, consider moving up to a faster recharge model that puts more amps to the battery."

"Surprisingly small, the single bank unit has been performing flawlessly as an inexpensive back up addition for my starting battery. I run a 2005 G3 HP180, and have the exisiting dual bank charger running my trolling motor batteries. Since I fish a lot of lakes limited to "electrics only", I didn't want to take the chance of running down the starting battery out of neglect, so I purchased the ProMite single bank to run that battery exclusively. A much cheaper alternative than replacing my existing two bank charger with a three bank. Time will tell if it holds up, and that's the only reason I didn't give this five stars. The ProMite is easy to install and operate, and appears to be very well made. I'd recommend this unit to anyone."

"This item charges my high capacity trolling motor battery in about 24 hours. Works well, but you'd want to get a 10 amp version if you don't have a full day to wait, and you're using a high capacity battery."

"This is just another quality product that Cabela's sells. It and all the other electrical products I have purchased from them are of high quality.
A very important part of my satisfaction comes from the fare price I pay for the item and the reasonable shipping charges. I have looked many places on line for different items and most always come back to Cabela's because of the lower shipping charges. There are some items they will not ship to Alaska but I understand."

"Was easy to install. It worked the first time--no problems. Charging 2 batteries. Depending on the location of the unit you should consider purchasing the extender cable(s). Five feet was enough for my front battery but I needed about 10 feet for the back."

"I was tired of the hassle of setting timers to remind me to alternate the charger I had between batteries, but the last straw came when I forgot to turn off the charger I had and found my workbench covered with acid. I bought the Promite 5/5/03 and I am thrilled. It was very easy to install (just a few screws) and long enough wires that I could place it for easy access. My two trolling and starting batteries are always fully charged and ready to go. All I have to do is plug it in and forget it!
This is a must have for keeping the boat fishing ready to head out when the fish start to bite."

"we replaced our old charger with this one this summer and a GREAT advantage is the lights that let you know at a glance that it is plugged AND working......battery failure on the water only has to happen once ( our old units had no indicator charging light) ....the light lets us KNOW for certain that the connection is complete...(people do unplug extension cords and neglect to replug!!) this nice little unit is mounted in the boat so all we have to do is park the boat in it's usual spot, hook up to the extn cord, check to see the indicator light is lit - and walk away and forget it - keeps the batteries in prime condition and ready for use!!"
