Best radio bang for your radio buck!,June 15, 2009

"Just returned from a week on Little Bay De Noc (Mich.) and used this new radio every day. Those with whom I communicated were impressed at the clarity and range of this unit. The radio endured some rain and boat spray (due to windy conditions) and never faltered. I loved the clarity of the speaker in the unit. I paired it with the 36" antenna that was offered at a discounted price and I see no reason to use a longer one. Those who need more range may want to opt for the longer antenna, but I think for most "small boaters" this combo is sufficient. Great talk box, Uniden!"

"The radio is everything it is said to be with excellent performance and reception. It is easy to operate and pleasant to use. My only question is, "Where do I get a WHAM (Wireless Handheld Access Microphone)? Cabela's doesn't carry and cannot or will not special order it and neither do any of the retailers that carry this radio. Uniden does not sell to consumers! So here is a great option that is unobtainable!!!"

"I have only had this VHF for a few weeks . Still waiting to see how durable it is . Was very easy to install . Came with everything . This radio is very user freindly . I love the cannel selector on the hand set and the dial shows up very nice even in bright sunlight"

"I bought this radio to use in a vehicle to talk to people out on the Hudson river when trying to find friends. It was simple to add a lighter plug and a magnetic mount anttena. Can be moved from vehicle to vehicle and/or to a boat quickly.
This radio works very well even though it is a lower priced unit. Other (more expencive) units have features I realy don't need. I was surprised at the range I got, even with a small antenna."
