"You need a set of pliers to sometimes close the hog rings completely and make them tight. It also does not advance to the next "staple" and you need a screw driver to push it forward each time."

"I had purchased some regular hog ring pliers thinking they were all the same but OH NO, they are not. I was so frustrated with the regular set I had purchased I about went bananas. The ring would slide around and not crimp all the way, it was junk.
Then I bought these from Cabelas. WOW!! Is all I can say. Easy as pie. It took me a minute to figure out how to load them, but once in place, they made it so easy to handle those slick, greasy fibrous casings I was stuffing. Well worth the money, and made an extremely frustrating job a joy to do. Buying good tools always makes the job easier, and that is just the case with these pliers. Good buy!"

"I BOUGHT THESE PLIERS FOR CLOSING THE CASINGS WHILE BUTCHERING. YOU BETTER HAVE TIME TO PRACTICE BECAUSE IT TAKES SOME TO MAKE THESE WORK. BUT ONCE YOU CATCH ON THEY WORK GREAT. YES YOU NEED THEM...YES GET THEM...BUT BE PATIENT WITH THEM IT TAKES TIME TO CATCH ON HOW TO USE OR LOAD THESE."
