"Wore this vest once and had a limit of sharptails that made it slide up an ride very uncomfortably. Then the third time I wore it I had water in the game bag for the dogs and the straps broke. The product was faulty in both build and design, I would not recommend this vest to anyone."

"In the search to replace an old strap vest that gave up the ghost after 20 years, I bought three new vests this year. In addition to this one, I bought Cabela's Ultimate Strap Vest (three stars) and another manufacturers Camo Mesh Vest (one star), and this is clearly the best of the lot. Among its best features are the fact that the shoulder straps are padded/backed and don't cut in like a nylon strap alone, game can be placed in the well ventilated gamebag without requiring removal of the vest or the help of another hunter and the material is pliable and comfortable (unlike some other well known vests). The only functional negative I can find was common to the other two vests as well as the otherwise excellent Cabela's 4in1 upland coat. The shell pockets are too shallow and become more shallow the greater the number of shells you put in them! Kneel down to pick up a bird or spent shells and the shells in the pocket start popping out like Popcorn-in-a-Bag at the three minute mark. I believe this can be remedied in all of these hunting garments by having someone open the seam and add an elastic band to help reduce or eliminate the problem, but why should that be necessary? Hunting vests are practical garments that require practical design. Start with deeper pockets and/or elastic in the top seam and test by kneeling with a box of shells dumped into a pocket. If they don't hop out, this becomes a five star vest in my book!"

"I've used this bag twice so far and am very pleased with it's light weight and ease of use. the shoulder straps distribute weight well and ease the stress on your shoulders and neck of carrying 5 or 6 rabbits. I'd like to see some cartridge holders on the chest or in pockets."

"First hunt with this vest. Worked well plenty of room in pockets for dog treats, lead, two-way radio and shells. Kept the water bottle in the game pouch. Nice combination of weight, storage space, and minmal interference while carrying a shotgun. Downsides were: 1-that there were no shell loops (had my wife sow some in for me), 2- a chest strap to pull the two shoulder straps togeather would be nice, and 3- the plastic adjustment buckles for the shoulder straps are nice and easy to work but at times they were rubbing on the gun as I often carry my gun in the bend of my left arm when walking between grouse covers. Overall a good product and it would be a great product with a few minor adjustments. I would deffinately purchase another one if some things were changes."

"Although it is light it is very difficult to balance the front and the back side. If you put something in the back you have to balance it with the front pockets which by the way are very small. I was very dissapointed and actually I am wondering what to do with it."

"This vest has been used by me for two years and the following observations were gained. Positive: lightweight, cool, very adjustable and can be worn over a coat or a t-shirt equally well, large ventilated lined game bag, comfortable straps, good price, heavy duty construction Negative: game bag difficult to access so it has to be removed or loaded by a pal, 3 pheasant put quite a load in the back and the vest rides up in front, pockets are double on each side but are relatively small and do not billow when loaded, snap closures difficult to use, no shell loops, don't plan on carrying a lot of gear I wear a belt pack for extra gear and this helps with the heavy loaded game bag since it sits on top of the belt pack a distributes the weight to my hips. Shells are carried on a separate shell holder belt."

"After trying several styles of vests and upland jackets, I believe I have found the most versatile way of carrying pheasants and other upland birds that my Brittany points. This vest can be layered over a jacket on colder days, or I can strip down to a tee shirt on warmer days. Other styles of vests add layers of clothing the makes me overheat easily while walking the fields and meadows in search of game. And jackets with built-in game pockets feel like I am walking around with a full diaper! The mesh bag in the back makes the vest very light and easy to carry, and will effortlessly accommodate more than a legal limit. (I always carry the extra birds for my elderly Uncle) I like the plastic buckle on the front and the covered buttons to protect the stock of my gun, as well. Improvements needed to reach 5-star status: add shell loops inside the front pockets, a whistle tab on the front, and add a designated pocket to hold a bottle of water for the dog or me."

"Being an avid upland gamebird hunter I have used just about every type and style of hunting vest on the market. The Cabela's Deluxe Upland Game Bag II is the most comfortable for warmer weather climates, from shooting doves in late summer to following pointers in the early fall. The large pockets offer ample shell room, and the large game bird bag can hold a days limit of quail or pheasant easily. What I like most is the wide comfortable shoulder straps that distubutes the load over your shoulders evenly, reducing the back pain I use to have with a game belt type huntin bag."
