TFO Pro 9' 5wt,July 27, 2009
By troutmanPAfrom eastern PA
"Bought this for large trout, big river fishing. Works well for getting alot of distance out of your cast and great in the wind. Also ended up using this for Carp instead of my 6wt and it handles the load just fine."

Perfect for Shad, Stripers, Steelhead, FFF CCI,July 7, 2009
By sam4homesfrom Sacramento, CA
"Federation of Fly Fishing Certified Casting Instructor Sam Yee,
Some members of my fly fishing club cannot double haul very well or they may have physical limitations. we used a spey rod to allow them to cast farther using an overhead cast. Most of them could cast 80-90 feet on the first try. Distance is very inportant when striper fishing. It seems like the farther you can cast the more fish you will catch, more time in the water, fishes deeper, keeps the fly infront of the fish.
Another friend has physical limitations and he can cast a lead core shooting head much farther using a side arm cast and the spey rod than he can with a 9" 8wt. Anyway his first time using the spey he hooked a huge striper that got away and he was convinced that the spey rod was the way to go. Now he is casting 70' and hooking more stripers.
This is my second TFO Spey Rod and my 4th Spey rod. By far the 6 wt 12'6" is the best of the 4 spey rods that I have owned. The second best was the TFO Skagit 8wt, 13'3".
The first day out I caught lots of shad in the American River and the Rod cast perfectly and allowed my skill level to catch up to the rod and I'm still learning & casting farther.
All the other rods were a bit big for the shad and stripers. The 6 wt is light enough to fight fish without feeling like you are using a broom stick to fight fish. It bends down to the but but has plenty of backbone to fight much larger fish.
It overhead cast well and spey casts well too. Great for casting distance and great for fighting fish. Can't wait to try it on Stripers. Cast all day with ease."

Excellent Rods,May 23, 2009
By Batuutafrom ketchikan, alaska
"I've fished many a fly rod, have caught thousands of salmon, steelies, trout... and have to admit that this is one of the most amazing deals in a fly rod out there. Not only do these rods perform great, they look absolutely gorgeous. TFO is putting other companies to shame by putting out such a great product at such an unreasonably low price-point. Get one, and prepare to use it for the duration of your life -- TFO's warranty ROCKS. This will suit a fly fisherman of any experience level... and unless you are painfully discriminating... is all the rod you'll really need, and then some."

2 Wt. Pro,January 20, 2009
By flywhackerfrom Fisherman for over 50 years, San Diego
"This is the third pro series rod I own, an 8wt, 6wt and now the 2wt. Bought it just for "fun" and fun it is. Only been chasing bluegills in the lake behind the house so far and the wife says she can here me hollering all the way home! Same great quality, pretty little rod would give it a 5 if it had a little nicer reel seat but then I would have had to pay twice as much. Really looking forward to catching a nice sized trout on it. Should be great "FUN"."

Good Rod,October 28, 2008
By troutoutfrom Plainville, Ct
"I've been using this rod in 4wt 9ft for a few months and am pretty impressed with it's performance. I landed a 8pound brown w/this rod so they are plentifully strong for trout. I think it's great for dry flies and moderate sized streamers. It doesn't seem to handle big, heavy, weighted flies well. I never expected it to in a 4wt though. I'll get a 2 or 3wt someday for smaller streams from TFO. I can cast very far and accurately with SA GPX line. Can't beat the value!"

TFO Professional 9064,July 11, 2008
By Uintafisherfrom Layton, Utah
"I think there's a certain point where value tapers off on fly fishing gear. That point is the TFO Professional and TiCR. This rod and the TiCR give you a lot of bang for your buck." I don't think some of the higher-priced rods are worth the slim increase in performance or aesthetics you may gather in some cases."

3 wt. 7'6",July 10, 2008
By Catsfanfrom Kentucky
"Very sebsitive tip and easy to cast once I got used to the lighter weight rod. It is a blast to catch pan fish with and actually still has the back bone to pull in a smaller larger mouth which I caught on this rod last night. Good quality and price as well."

Great Rod for a great price,May 27, 2008
By AJ16from South Lake Tahoe, CA
"I purchased the Lefty Kreh Professional Series in the 8.5ft 5wt about 3 weeks ago and I love it. Though I am a beginner and have only been fly fishing for about 3 years now, this rod is an excellent choice for somebody looking for an awesome entry level rod for a great price. I wish I had bought this before I purchased my high-end brand rod for over $650 because so far this rod has performed the same and in some situations has performed better. For my first three years I have been searching for that one brand that fits me and I believe TFO is the one. I recommend the Left Kreh Pro to anybody looking for a good quality but on a budget. For somebody advance with all the fancy gear, this rod still would be an excellent back up to have."

Fantastic buy for the money!,May 15, 2008
By TheSitkanfrom S.E. Alaska
"There I was, driving across the country and for some reason I didn't pack a rod. Before passing through the heart of "fly country" (Wyoming and Montana) I had to get a new one, but nothing fancy i thought. So I picked up a TFO 3 wt. I immediately liked the rod. I played with it several times and the rod just seemed to feel right. But I really decided that this was my favorite rod when I returned home to SE Alaska and landed a 26in Dolly with it. This rod handles as well as any of my other, more expensive rods but doesn't cost nearly as much. The best part about it is that I don't worry about packing in a rod that cost as much as one of my pay checks. Bottom line is this rod gets more use, cost less and handles great."

Very Nice Rod,February 20, 2008
By Zugbug41from California
"I was in need of reducing the length of my fly rods for travel. The purchase did that and more the rod has the feel of my more expensive Fly rods. The quality is very impressive. I will be purchasing others to not only reduce the length but to reduce the total cost of the rod that I travel with. The total cost can cause stress when the rods do not reach the bagage area."

All The Rod You Will Ever Need!,February 20, 2008
By SmallieAnglerfrom Western PA
"I bought my first Temple Fork Professional Series fly rod several years ago while preparing for a cross country trip by air. That four piece rod performed so well that I've since bought two more. I now own them in 5 weight, 7 weight and 9 weight to handle everything from bluegills to baby tarpon. These rods cast as well, or better, than anything available 15 years ago and perfom only slightly below today's most expensive premium rods. These rods are reasonably priced because unnecessary frills have been eliminated - no fancy wood inserts or nickel-silver fittings here. Personally, I like their solid, all business look. They are quality, low maintenance, affordable rods that I won't hesitate to fish in any circumstances. The life time guaranty doesn't hurt here either. With this series Temple Fork Outfitters has made it possible for a person of average means to own several very nice fly rods of which they can be very proud."

Steelhead fishing,February 8, 2008
By primelandfrom California
"I used my new Lefty Kreh Professional Series 7wt 10 foot fly rod Steelhead fishing on California's Trinity River in January. It snowed 4" during the 7 hours of fishing, but I was very pleased with the ease that "roll casts" could be made with the extra rod length. I landed several Steelhead up to nearly 9 pounds with the rod, and was very pleased with it."

Excellent inexpensive fly rods,January 22, 2008
By Fstopfrom Boothbay Harbor, Maine
"I use both 3 and 5 wt Temple Fork professional series fly rods, among others, and find them to have an excellent sensitive feel while able to make accurate and long casts. I tried a $600 5 wt at another outfitter and felt the TFO action to be very comparable. Naturally, the more expensive rods have better hardware and cork. The TFO cork grips lost quite a bit of the void filler after olny a fair amount of use making the rod aesthetically less attractive but, to me the price differencial and great action overcome the aesthetics. I'll continue to buy & use the TFO rods."

Good rod for the money,October 22, 2007
By Daniel56from Southern Ca.
"I recently spent a day using this rod up at Crowley and it performed well using a T-200 sink tip line. My 4pc. Sage could not power this line at all but this rod did a fine job. One thing I don't like however, the ferrules don't fit all the way to the bottom of the previous pc. In other words there is a significant amount (at least 3/8") of exposed blank from one pc. to the next. This is something I have never seen on any rod I have ever owned, be it flyrod, spinning rod or casting rod. At first I thought I simply wasn't applying enough pressure but after rotating and pushing more than I ever have before, they still didn't want to engage all the way. Wierd! I can't really tell if this affected the performance of the rod though. I would think it would have some minor impact on the overall handling characteristics. Otherwise it would have received 4 stars."

For the Money...this is a great rod,July 2, 2007
By AndyGfrom Frisco, CO
"Great rod for the money...great casting feel. If you want an inexpensive rod...that is not cheap or poorly made and gives you a feel of a more expensive rod...buy this rod...you won't be disappointed."
