Tie Down,September 10, 2009
By Polskifrom Milwaukee, WI.
"The tie down itself looks to be good quality but the issue I had was with Cabelas ordering system. I wanted transom tie downs and recieved a gunwhale tie down. When I looked into the problem it turns out both items have the same item number on the website. This leads to confusion and is a very poor system."

cabelas transom tie downs,September 7, 2009
By mrv50from pittsburgh, pa
"i purchased the cabelas heavy duty transom tie downs. the rubber padding was nice on them and it did not scratch my transom the entire 1 time i could use them. on the 2nd time i used the closing mechanism bent and broke right off of both of them. the only way to use them is to keep them loose which defeats the purpose. hopefully i can return them."

HD Tiedowns,August 30, 2009
By Wanofrom Maine
"I was dissapointed to find that the upper attach hooks were not large enough to fit over the gunnels on my 14' Aluminum boat. The reason I purchased these was because the standard duty ones were out of stock. These tie-downs are designed to hook onto an attach eye built into the transom of the boat I guess. Oh well my bad, but pay attention to this before purchasing like I did."

Good product,August 17, 2009
By boater333from Rochester, New York
"These tie-downs are very well constructed. The way that they were designed to go on is a great idea. The draw back however is that the one end that is rubber coated can't be used on the boat side or you can't use the ratchet. I am using them "upside down" & they seem to work very well. I wish the other end had the protective rubber coating & these would be perfect."

good tie down,August 12, 2009
By bedgood42
"The name Heavy Duty may be misleading. I bent the handle that locks the tie down tight the first time I used it. But I was trying to make it to tight. Once you figure it out it works fine."

Metal not strong enough,August 10, 2009
By kcobbvafrom Alexandria, va
"To ensure the jonboat doesn't move on the trailer, I must ensure these straps are tight in the back. I replaced an older set (another brand) due to the strap beginning to fray. I liked the concept of the rubber protecting the boat, and thought these would be a good purchase. The third time I loaded the boat and began to push down on the metal handle to snap into place, the metal itself bent downward, rendering the product useless. Thankfully I kept the old straps in the boat and they have never had this issue. I've yet to contact cabelas as this occured this weekend. The metal handle used is way too weak compared to the other product I currently own."

Rock solid,July 28, 2009
By NPLATTEDOGfrom Wyoming
"I recently purchased these as a replacement for an older set that I lost at the lake. Very solid, and easy to adjust and use. Never worry about them not holding once their locked down. I have a 18.5' Crestliner Sportfish with a ton of gear in it and they will hold a much larger boat solidly on any trailer. Another great product with the Cabela's name behind it!"

good - not great,July 8, 2009
By cheapmetalfrom Canada
"These straps do the job well, as a user one has to be more careful with the product than expected. I find myself readjusting quite a bit with the straps, in small increments in order to get it right. I like my straps quite tight, however, with this product if you make it too tight the lever bends quite easily. The handles are not as heavy duty as they need to be. These straps work fine, they are just not as heavy duty as I had expected them to be.
I guess my recomendation to Cabela's would be to take the term "heavy duty" out of the name. They make them look so by giving them a chunky or "beefy" appearance but they are made from cheap metal."

UTV Tie-down,December 9, 2008
By dharrigerfrom North Central Pennsylvania
"Purchased the tie-downs for securing my 2009 Ranger 700 on my trailer. They worked faster and easier, especially in cold, snowy, slushy road conditions than the standard "ratchet" tie-down systems. Allowed for "tight" tie-down and easy release. Bought 2 sets to anchor both front and rear of UTV and were the best solution. Highly recommend for any application for securing ATV or UTV on a trailer."
