"This reel meets the expectations generated from its publicity. I put on 12 lb smooth casting mono and after making settings cast my most horrible lure, a 3/4 oz spinnerbait that casts like a twisting ball of fluff. With a little practice my settings went to the next to the lightest and I muscled the lure into the wind with all my strength and with great pleasure watched the arching line drop the lure a long way off without a backlash. My feelings of insanity over paying so much were subsiding with each cast. Go for it.

"Im sure we have all heard it before....you want to talk or cut bait.....if this applies to fishing reels, stand by. The reel in question is the next shelf.....I dont care who's other reel your talking about.....this reel here...is the champion.... the "Ali" of reels. I live out where natives (steehead) still run over 25#...silvers (salmon) 15# to 18# and on occation springers that will blister your thumb ( over 25 #) . The reel I turn to EVERY time is this reel. It fits the hand, casts without much help and never casues me to miss fish cause im untangling a mess. This reel outcasts shimano's newest, diawas most expensive and Van staahl's best. Agreed it costs a bit.....but if you would rather have 1 go to reel, year in and out instead of having a whole closet full of "sundries"....sell some of your dust colletors and buy one of these....youll be racing to your favorite fishing spot just for the fun of it, over and over.... year in and out.
The farrari of reels....and worth EVERY penny! Bet your next 25# on it......I have."

"I've had several large stripers on and landed them in the past two weeks. I also caught and released an over sized sturgeon approx. 90lbs. Took about 30 minutes. I have two of the Calcutta TE DC reels and they are worth every penny that they cost. My fishing partner also has two of the reels and is talking about buying another one. JUST SO HE'LL HAVE MORE THAN ME."

"You get what you pay for! This thing casts a mile! Smooth and almost never get backlash. Compact, light, smooth and ALWAYS works. Awesome piece!
Expensive? yes. But when you use something thousands of times per year it needs to be constructed to take abuse. It also simply has technology that other reels do not.
I would say that it casts another 20-30 yeards over my chronarch."

"I know for most of us, the price has a lot to do with our decision, but in this case, if you want a reel that not only out-performs the rest of the field, and has the guts and stamina to out-last them as well, then save up for a few months, (cut out that daily high-priced coffee/latte for a few months) and get one of these reels. I work with high-tech electronics machines, and the self-energizing Digitally-Controlled spool brake pays for itself in the first few fishing trips, if your time is of any value, because it keeps you fishing, and not picking at the line that doubled in size around the inside of the frame! ! The action is so smooth, the size is perfectly fitted to your hand, and the part that really surprised me, after I mounted it on a 7' rod, was how light the whole package was. I mean it felt like there was no reel on the rod, it's truely LIGHT! ! ! Plus the elecronic buzzing sound the spinning spool makes is really cool when you release your thumb-grip on the cast!
So, drop some subtle hints to the family, maybe they will go together with you for your birthday/christmas and get one of these reels! This reel will surprise you, and make you forget, (well at least try to justify) the price!"

"This is by far the best bait casting reel I have ever used, bar none. You can watch the spool correct itself while your lure is in mid flight. I have never caught a fish while detangleing a knotted up spool."

"Is it possible to give a product 6 Stars? I'll be the 1st to admit, I was skeptical about a fishing reel with a "computer chip", but I purchased this reel early this spring, and have a hard time putting it down since! It opened up a whole new technique of fishing for me, throwing very light soft plastics with a bait-casting reel. I personally have throw a 3-1/2" tube w/ 1/8 oz jig over 47 yards!! Usually when I'm finessing soft plastics, I've always used spinning tackle, but now I just can't bring myself back to my spinning gear. Spool speed & tension is adjusted automatically with the chip, I was amazed at the distance & accuracy I can throw with this reel."
