"Bought these pants on a whim. Have worn them twice and have been pleasantly surprized at how well they fit and how comfortable, warm and windproof they are. My last trip was a ten mile hike across some harsh terrain with the wind blowing at 15 knots and the temperature around minus 10 celsius. My legs were never cold. At one point, I broke through some ice crossing a stream and while I got the bottom my pant leg wet where it was bloused over my boot, I never felt the cold. The pants more or less shed the water.
The cargo pockets are a nice and useful feature. Finally, they look pretty good too. While I bought them for hunting, I could probably wear these around town on a cold day and still look presentable.
These pants represent an excellent return for your buck. Am considering buying a second pair. If I were to suggest an improvement, it would be to add a watch pocket."

"These were not only very comfortable they were warm as well. The only change I would make is adding one more button to the lower leg pockets to keep items from falling out. I kept my fire starter in one side and TP in the other with plenty of storage for other items in the rear and front pockets. My suspenders worked great with the buttons on the inside of the pants. Without them I believe the renge finder, knife and camp saw would have created a huge problem. 13 days without washing and they kept soaking up the BO one can have away from a shower."

"These pants we great in the field. (4.5 stars really) I used them for antelope in Eastern Montana so I spent a lot of time belly crawling over sage brush and cactus.
I didn't used the cargo pockets for anything too important because they snap close instead of buttoning. (I was concerned that I might lose something while crawling around.) However, the pockets are nice and large to throw things into for short term storage. (like gloves or a wool hat)
I also liked the fact that the legs were large enough to wear long underwear and knee pads underneath without feeling tight when kneeling. They also cleaned up quite easily at home in the family washing machine after the hunt.
I used the 40" waist size and they fit my frame really well without sliding off my middle aged girth!"

"I bought these pants for hunting in Northern NY. I like the fabric ok, a little scratchy, haven't washed them. Roomy enough. My big problem and why I don't recommend them: I ordered 36"waist, 30"inseam. I received 36"waist, 36"inseam. Didn't have time to send them back before use. The other huge problem: I think they were made for 8' tall people, because the cargo pocket's top is at my knee. That's the top, not the bottom of the pocket. I also had the snap on the pocket flap break off before any real hunting use, not really a big deal. For the price, I'd get army surplus. I guess I'm stuck with them, probably going to save my pennies and buy Filson or at least woolrich next time. Kind of soured me on the whole Cabela's wool line."

"Heavy wool and closely woven! Holds the body warmth in on those very cold days found here in Alaska. Only a lightweight long underwear required under them. Alaska just went through some of the coldest temps we've had in the last 10 years, (-40 to -50 where I live) and the wool did everything that was advertised......kept me warm while outside over an extended period of time."

"I wore these only 7 times this season. 4 full day hunts and 3 half days. After this limited use some of my suspender buttons either fell off or are falling off. In cold weather the cold permeates the materials. I am highly disappointed and got better results with discount pants that I used for 10 years prior to these."

"I purchased 2 pair. I purchased one a size larger (38) for wearing with warmer, heavier shirts. Unfortunately, I was unable to try them on before I went up to deer camp. The larger size was about right, little extra room with a regular shirt tucked in. the normal sized (36) pant not even close. I ordered a specific length- they were about 2 inches off. Overall, the pants worked ok the pockets are great, wore nice until the wind gusts hit. The pants could use a nice nylon inside for windbreak. Luckily, I had an old pair (36) that had the nylon lining I wore them on those windy days."

"The wool pants worked great during a recent hunting trip. Temperatures were in the low teens with a few inches of snow. I did not get a bit cold. The utility could be improved with changes to the pockets and the leg openings. I used a blouse for the leg openings but would have preferred something built into the legs to tighten the opening. The cargo pockets could also benefit from either hook and loop closure or an additional button on each pocket. I also bought the matching coat and it work great also. It was a bit heavy but once I put it on I didn't notice the weight but the warmth was great. Again the sleeve openings would benefit from hidden elastic closures. Also an optional hood would be of benefit. In closing I plan to have the items altered to include the features that I mentioned. Money well spent. I am very pleased with this purchase."

"The quality and price were right and they arrived in a timely manner. I did have an issue with the size, as they run a bit small I feel. I'd order 1 size larger in the waist than normal and remember, if you were a size 38 in jenas, you'd wear a 41" in wool. Americans are getting larger and most apparel is made in Asia. I used to wear X/L and have not changed much in height and weight. Now I take at least a 2XL in most things. Wonder what the really big guys do?"

"I purchaed these wool pants for my husband to replace a very "Tired" pair he's used for years. He's happy w/the quality and I'm happy that I can wash them in the machine. He hasn't used them yet - but he is looking forward to this deer season in November. Although, he is a bit supersticious, as in same shirt, pants, socks, & etc for opening day ~ I anticipate things will go well! It's a major plus that they come altered!!"

"The Legacy wool pants are an update of Cabela's 27-ounce Woodsman Wool pants line. The body style and the look is the same. The main change is that the Legacy line is made of wool that you don't need to have dry-cleaned. So if this is important to you, it's a big advantage.
Legacy also has modified the front cargo pockets, so that you now have bellow pockets that hold more. This is good. The downside is: they replaced the two-button fasteners, which held the cover down securely on the cargo pockets. Now they just have one small pushbutton fastener. As a result, everytime you sit down, your keys and loose cartridges and other small items slide out. Don't even think about trying to cross your legs. This is a big negative that they should correct.
Overall, these 27 oz wool pants are wonderful. They're warm, comfortable, and have plenty of big pockets. They're also rugged enough to be the hunting pants of choice."

"I purchased a pair of Legacy Superwash wool pants for deer hunting in the wilds of Northern Michigans Upper Peninsula. The winters there are cold and snowy and chasing whitetails can be an all day trek through as much as 1 to 3 feet of snow. I'm sorry to say these wool pants did'nt stand up to the riggors of the outdoors. After 3 days and 1 washing the large side pockets gave out. The wool material, not the stitching, started to unravel and this rendered the side pockets useless. The shipping time was outstanding as I received the pants prior to leaving on my hunting trip even though I ordered at the last minute.....too bad the quality was not there. I have worn several different brands of wool pants over the years and the Legacy Superwash wool pants don't begin to measure up to even the cheapest ones I have owned. Doc"
