Couldnt be happier,May 26, 2009
By Encinomanfrom Apple Valley, MN
"I just spent the last 8 hours on the lake. Bought my pontoon today, and havent had a single problem as of yet. I love the fact you can carry it fully assembled, with very little grunting involved. I can break it down and carry it with the pontoons filled in my jeep liberty. Thats right, IN, not on.
It took a minute to get the feel for it(the maneuverability is awsome) but I cant think of a reason to not like this product. For a calm lake that does not allow combustion motors, this product works like a dream. Its easy to move, easy to assemble, easy to maneuver, and it provides a decent workout."

I lovw this boat,April 15, 2009
By AlbeeFishingfrom CALIFORNIA
"I ve been watching and reading up on these pontoon boats and for the money this is byfar the best out there. Ive only taken it out twice, the first was a calm day and I had a great day. The second time started out calm but quickly became bad we had 35 mph winds just out of now where the swells where about 2 foot and other then getting splashed I was completely stable I didnt even think for one second that I would roll over. The only problem Ive had was that the zipper on the seat pocket was manufactured wrong and dint work but cabelas put me in touch with the manufacter and they are sending me a new seat. Ive had problems finding rod holders for the boat since the tubing is all 1 1/4 inch tubeing and all the rod holder for rails are for upto 1 inch tubeing but I found some buy berkley that have no hard ware and I have the right nuts and bolt to mount it with out drilling holes if you are looking for a great quality and low cost this is for you."

Excellent for river fishing,March 5, 2009
By FishingLEfrom Ohio
"I use my Madison pontoon for drifting Ohio rivers for steelhead since shore access is so limited. I put in up stream and float, I have a couple holes that always hold fish where I anchor and have a blast. After using a 14' V-bottom this is so easy I should have done it a long time ago."

2008 Fishing season,November 22, 2008
By kcflyfishingfrom Westerm Missouri
"The Classic Madison Pontoon Boat performed much better than I expected for the price. This is the 1st Personal Pontoon I've owned and I highly recommend it for the small lake / pond fisherman. It was used on an average of 3 times per week for aprox. 4 hrs per trip, all summer. The oars do leave a lot to be desired; however I very rarely had to use them. It is a MUST to use kick fins in order to have any possibility of using this unit to its potential. I purchased the Creek Company Lightweight Fins and found them excellent. They helped me stay on point and maneuver even in <25 mph winds (common in the Midwest). Great platform for the fly fisherman."

I can't recommend,October 13, 2008
By TroutKnot
"It looked good in the store and it came with the saleman's recommendation, good enough? Not! I assembled it at home, to fit check. I noticed some bad fitting, rough edges and most of all a part that was missing an attachment loop and the other in the wrong place. It was not a critical item so I tried the boat out anyway. It worked fine as a fishing platform, where it fails is in its construction. It rusts, springs and clips don't work well after a few uses. Oars are miserable, it gets harder and harder to assemble and disassemble the boat after a few uses. WD-40 all metal parts to prevent rust and so parts will fit together. Classic Accessories still has not sent the replacement part, after two months, fishing season is over... There is a reason why this boat is cheap, I'll be lucky to get another season out of it, oh well, it's only $$$, but a lesson learned."

I use it weekly,September 5, 2008
By MCPiscatorfrom Cleveland
"I'm been a float tuber now for over 20 years. I was very hesitant to get a pontoon. I was really concerned about sail area on windy days, the higher profile for the fish to see me and also the carry weight. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long! I found one as a display and bought it at a super discount. It was obvious the pontoon had been abused in the store. I had contacted the manufacturer and Christi was great to work with. I got the new parts I needed at a low cost. Like I said, I use it weekly! I can get into shallower water than a sit-in-the-water float tube and cast out. I use 4 rubber bungy cords to strap it to the top of my SUV inflated. I carry a double action pump ($20) on board as temperature changes still affect the inflatable pontoons. I use two rod holders to carry three rods with me... (two fly and a bait cast). I recently switched from chest waders to hippers. Much better for the summer. I'd like to add pockets though. I added the anchor bracket and with the cloth deck that comes with the boat, I carry a rubbermaid plastic box for a cooler and other stuff like a rain suit. I've carried it well over 100 yards (two trips to protect the rods!). I did make a modification as a fly fisherman... I rotated the foot pegs 110 degrees up, drilled a hole for the pin and spot painted them. This so the opening is clear and I could still use the pegs to oar around. I only take the oars on big lakes and windy days. I use a simple electronic depth sounder that I strap under the seat. One thing you'll want to take for it though.... When you need to stand-up (calls of nature!), put a bungy cord across the two d-rings on the bow... without your weight the slightest breeze blows the boat away! That really stinks with fins on! Voice of experience! The boat is a good size to reach all points from the seat. I've had it on a calm river twice and had no problems even after bumping into dangerous branches. I have patched the bladder once due to my dummy snag retrieval and the hook pin holing the bladder. There is a protected inner bladder so you will stay afloat if the outer deflates rapidly. Love it and use it all the time!"

Madison Pontoon,July 18, 2007
By PrairieFishermanfrom Bismarck, ND
"I'm very happy with the Madison Pontoon Boat I recently purchased from Cabela's. The assembly was easy to follow and and I think the overall design of the kraft is excellent. The pontoon is basically held together with 8 "C" - clamps and this allows the kraft to be broken down very easily for transpontation. I took the pontoon out during the week of the 4th of July (vacation) and spent many hours fishing from it. Some of the waves, on the lake in Minnesota where we were staying, were pretty substantial. The pontoon road these waves with ease and the one thing I was really thankful for was the anchor assembly. This allowed me to fish in one place without having to keep the oars in the water continually. This fall I plan to use this pontoon for small pot hole hunting of ducks. Excellent product!"

So Far So Good,July 10, 2007
By Anonymousfrom Charlton Ma.
"Purchased in the fall of 2006 and finally got it in the water about 6 times so far this year. It is perfect for casting a fly or spin rod. Its been out only on none windy days so far. I did have one valve stuck open when I went to inflate, but it did close after some help. The only draw back i found was with the angle and depth the oars go into the water, they do not allow for max rowing power from the oar, not that big of deal on this type of boat. I wish I could get it in the water more often."

Trout Unlimited Madison Pontoon Boat,June 7, 2007
By howlongfrom Montana
"I found the quality of the craftsmanship not up to what I would consider good quality control. Several of the parts had to be modified in order for them to be installed properly. The most difficult modification was using a 6" extension with a metal deburring bit to grind off the weld on the inside of the tube where the foot rest inserted into the main frame. One oar was missing the spring mechanisim in order to put the two oar pieces together. After a wait of three and one half weeks a replacement oar was shipped. Cabela's service people took care of my complaint quickly and easliy. I believe the problem was with the distributor. Cabela's has always stood by warranty work efficiently one their own products."

Marginal Quality,May 15, 2007
By JohnfromMuncyPA
"Nice boat; very poor experience with the inflation valves. The inflation valves stick and require a pair of pliers to operate. I read the exact same review on another web site but purchased this pontoon anyhow, mostly based on the TU endorsement. BIG MISTAKE, outside of the initial frustration of trying to "free-up" the inflation valves, going forward these valves will become an issue."

Big Fan!!,February 12, 2007
By clu82from Kelowna, BC / Mankato, MN
"I got this pontoon boat as a graduation gift and I love it. I used it for still water trout fishing in British Columbia and for pan fish, bass, walleye and pike fishing in Minnesota. I customized it by adding rod holders and an anchor system which was very easy to do. I also covered it in camo and used it for the duck hunting season which also worked very well. Overall, I am very happy with the quality of this product and I am actually looking into purchasing the Trout Unlimited Colorado River Pontoon Boat for fishing larger rivers and for motor attachment capability."

"This is the only way to fly fish a lake or reservoir. The boat is easily assembled in 15-20 minutes and ready for action. High bouyancy and stability make this an ideal fishing platform."
