"I have a young Lab puppy that wouldn't stop barking. My brother purchased the Dogtra Yapper Stopper a few years ago and recommended it to me. The first one I purchased worked for a week and then would not hold a charge. I called Cabela's and the return was easy and so I purchased another one. It has worked very well. My Lab has learned quickly not to bark with it on and has quieted down quiet a bit even without it. If he acts up I just show it to him and he gets the point. I have re-charged the Yapper twice and it has held it's charge both times. My brother's is two years old and he still uses it. Good product and Cabela's customer service was outstanding"

2 dogs- did not work,May 3, 2009

"Bought 2 collars about 6 mo ago for my labs. 1 large male and 1 medium female. Absolutly has not worked for either.
The male barks right thru with no affect on the highest level. The female will bark for 6- 10 seconds before a yelp that it finally did work. Have tried each collar on both dogs after several recharges and nothing.
I would not recomend this brand at all. My training collars are Tri Tronics and work great. (dont know about their bark collars) Tried to save money on this brand.... mistake."

"Bought this as a replacement for a out-of warranty Tri-Tronics unit which was going to cost $60 to repair for the second time.
I bought this new for a little more than another repair. Yes, it is a little larger and heavier than the T-T unit but it looks like it can withstand any thing my large Lab might dish out. Dogtra also makes a version of this unit for smaller breeds.
Unit works very well. I especially like the rotary dial for setting the stimulus level as opposed to the "push button" method on the T-T unit. Remember that when using a e-collar of any type you want to use the lowest level of stimulation to achieve the desired results.
So far, I am very happy with the Dogtra and would recommend it for bark suppression purposes."

"After trying almost every remedy on the market including sprays, shock collar, avoidance therapy - you name it, we finally have succeeded in getting our Bouvier to quit barking outside. The Dogtra No Bark Collar YS500 did the trick!
Since our dog is also an inside dog and we want her to bark when someone comes into our home, we didn't try to hide the fact that it was the collar giving her the stimulation, besides she is probably too smart for that anyway just as she caught on with all of our other attempts.
Our dog literally barked at everything in her environment including chickadees, squirrels, dogs blocks away barking, any car, any person, etc. Since we live on a park and the parkway abuts our fenced in property, she barked basically nonstop to the point she could only stay outside approixmately 3 minutes before something set her off into a barking extravaganza.
This bark collar has saved my sanity and has made our dog a much happier creature. She loves going outside even in the cold of a Michigan winter and now she is able to stay out and play for as long as she wants. Believe it or not, it has also brought about a more compliant dog - one that actually comes when she called - think it has to do with her not being in control of the situation. Now instead of just looking at me when I called her during a barking fit, there is no barking and she comes immediately when called!
If you're at your wits end as I was, buy this collar immediately - you will not regret it."

"Just after a few days of use both of my dogs barked very little.Even with the collar off the barking has decreased. The home environment now is much more peaceful and the neighbours appreciate it too. I would recommed this product to any dog owner who needs to eliminate barking. The collar seems very rugged, well built and dependable so far."

"I have a young Labrador Retriever that thinks she needs to bark at everything that moves. After using the collar her barking has decreased dramatically even when the collar isn't on her. I kept the setting low so the shock wasn't painful but it was uncomfortable for her. - well made - easily rechargeable - works quickly Now I just wish I had two other collars for the rest of my barkers!"

"I've been using this collar on my 100 pound Shepherd now for almost three weeks without any problems from the unit. Build quality seems exceptional in that it looks and feels solid and well made. The unit does seem a bit bulky. Hopefully though, that bulk equals a sturdier product than the PetSafe and Tri-Tronics units that I've used in the past. Both of those units failed within a year of purchasing them. The waterproof Petsafe due to water damage, and the Tri-Tronics just plain failed to charge any further.
As far as how the unit works, I would have to say quite well. While it comes only with one set of prongs, they appear long enough in that the prongs get through my boys long, thick coat. Once in a while I notice that he may get one or two barks off without the unit activating but then it gets to him after that. Effective piece of mind for when the wife or I cannot be home to supervise him.
So far, so good. I would recommend this item."

"The yapper stopper ys500 works immediately. My Black & Tan Coonhound barks as soon as it's off though. I can leave it around her neck with the power turned off and she won't bark. I'm hoping she will learn to stop barking at trivial things one day. If you want your dog to stop yapping, get one of these. P.S. it doesn't work on the wife."

"I tried other bark collars. As soon as the battery wore out, the barking started again. And trying to buy another battery was nearly impossible. I bought only one of the YS500's to try out. I have 2 Australian Cattle dogs who bark at everything that moves on our 10 acres in the woods. They have that high pitched yap that drives me insane! The other collars were not sensitive enough to pick up that yap. The YS500 did the trick! We had it up to a 5 but it was so sensitive that when one dog barked the one wearing the collar got zapped! We turned it down to a 3 and had peace and quiet. Now I am ordering a second one for the other dog. He knows he doesn't have a collar on. I would recommend this collar to anyone with a barking problem. Your neighbors will thank you!"

"Finally there is a barking collar that truly works! I've had hounds for 33 years and tried numerous barking collars with little or no success. This collar has an outstanding vibration sensor that allows the collar to perform without the prongs being tight on the neck and causing irritation.
I'm so satisfied with this collar that I've thrown out all the off the shelf and tri products, batteries and chargers that I used in the past.
I just purchased this collar in October and have had success from day one on my most stubborn, barking dog. The silence is great!
I think this product is so great I just ordered 2 collars for my sons' hounds."

"I am very pleased with this collar, it has worked wonderful. We have have recently ordered another ys 500 for one of our other dogs. We live in town and having bear hounds in town is a challenge with people that don't like the idea of using dogs for bear hunting. "This device worked great with my dog. She had a bad barking problem and i got this bark collar and it only took one zap and she stopped. She is a border colly with long hair and the long hair didnt even get in the way, no trimming needed. I was very surprised."

"I've had this unit for three weeks and it has made a tremendous difference in controlling my German shorthair's barking. We still place the collar on the dog at night and he doesn't seem to make the connection to training... however he does not challenge the unit and his barking is totally controlled on the 3 setting. I do not yet know if it will be a training unit that will eventually not be needed but it does work humanely and consistently."

"I've had tried three other brands and the Dogtra is the only way to go! The others either were, to low of stimulation, had to be positioned exactly right on the dog and often times with fur getting in the way wouldn't work, hard to set level, wouldn't hold a stimulation setting, ate batteries at an alarming rate, or were difficult to test. Once the the dogtra is initially charged, it easily holds a charge for week. I charge it overnight once a week. It is plenty strong on stimulation and very adjustable. It is easy to set with the dial. Other collars have left me swearing after repeated stroking of the magnetic switch device. Dogtra is easy to test with supplied device. Other collars require three hands and you still get shocked. The pick up ( if that is what it is called) is huge and forgiving compared to the rod like pick up on the other collars. I'm sure the pick up is more comfortable for the dog as well. I’ve got some barkin watch dog shepards that I don't always want be on the watch and the Dogtra delivers. I have one dog set to "4" and the other on a "5.5" ( yes it makes a difference) and it SHUTS THEM UP! I‘ve tried to think of a negative on these collars, I just can’t think of any."
