"This Griptilian is top quality. With the D2 steel, it is something that you know will stay sharp when needed. Blade is nicely centered and lockup is tight with the Axis lock. I removed the thumb stud as it was superfluous once the flick-out motion was mastered. Silk smooth action right out of the box. Razor sharp, rugged. A delight that nestles unnoticed in your pocket. "I already have a mini Griptilian but I just had to have a larger version with the black coated blade. I actually use the mini more because it is easier to carry. Great for every purpose from gutting deer to filleting grouse and pheasants. If there is a better knife for the money I will buy one. Made in USA closed the deal."

"Factory edge on this knife is good and sharp. I have had two of these knives now, the last was half serrated. When getting a new one it may require taking the clip off and bending it so it holds tighter on your pocket. I have had it fall off when pulling up my waiters. The locking systems is by far to me the best. EASY one hand operation! But all around an excellent knife and will by again!!!"

"My wife bought me this knife as a gift before I got sent overseas. This knife was on me every day when I went out on missions. It was used for everything, cutting open MRE's, slicing open sand bags, cutting rope, cutting cardboard, tarps, etc. I kept a sharpening set in my room and it never had a problem getting an edge back and barely ever needed to be sharpened. It's easy to open with one hand, either using your thumb to push it open or just pulling on the button and flipping it open. It came that way right out of the box, no break in time. I previously had a SOG, which I liked also, but it was a pain to get shut once it was open. This knife can be easily closed with one hand also, if you the situation dictates that. I would recommend this knife to anyone that wants an easy to use well built knife that will last. They aren't cheap, but I don't plan on needing another knife for a long time."

"I bought this knife with the plain blade last year. I use a sharpener that is sold here at Cabela's that allows different angles during sharpening. I use the 25 degree angle, and the blade stays sharp forever. I sharpened it before a sheep hunt last month and skinned a sheep for full mount as well as quartered and boned the animal without sharpening. What's even more amazing is that I've been using it for two days at work and it still cuts as well as a razor knife. I will re-sharpen it before my moose hunt next week, but it really doesn't need it. Very lightweight and doesn't rust. I wash mine in the dishwasher. Worth every penny of the price!"

"As someone who has quite a bit of knowledge about knives, I'd have to say that the Griptilian is one of the classics of modern cutlery. It's definitely in the top 5 tactical folders of all time. D2 steel is one of the very best steels for folders, as it has fantastic edge holding qualities. The axis lock on the grip is also one of the best in the industry, and is now being copied by a large number of manufacturers. Anyway, quit reading reviews and buy one already!"
