"I hunted Horicon Marsh in Central Wisconsin on Oct. 31st. The weather was brutal....45mph gust, sleet, snow, and rain with temps hovering around 40. For the price you cannot beat the jacket. The camo pattern blended in perfectly in the cattails while duck hunting. The only recommendation I would offer is to buy a size bigger than your normal wear if you want to use it over your normal jacket."

Overall good but . . .,

"This is a fit and finish review-- not a field report.
Finish and materials are great but . . .
I am a true med. and this fits but fits exactly meaning not much room underneath for layering, especially in shoulders. Thermal, shirt and lite sweater will max this out. Has net lining and my past with that design is snaggy. Handwarmer pockets have fleece on outside where it belongs, a plus. Bow guys: Material is "peached" so quiet. But the flap pockets are smallish and don't bellow much--drop a box of 12 ga. in and will bulge out big. No shell loops fyi. Waist is beltline cut, good with waders.
Would recommend to friend as a lite duty lite weather jacket, what they call in Cabelaspeak, "early season."
Give this jacket a looser cut for layers and big pockets and get 5 stars."

Good rain gear, but not quiet,

"These are good rain gear, except that the cuffs get soggy and stay that way. I'm trying some waterproofing seam sealer to see if that helps. But they are not quiet in dry conditions, they rustle when you move. When they are wet and there is some wind and rain to cover your noise, they are OK. Not recommended if it's not stormy weather, but good in rainy windy weather."

"very good light weight jacket, it is light weight and breathable. of course it is completely water proof.
the only thing that I noticed about it was when I was on a very tough hunt and ended up walking through a very tough swam I was sweating like heck and the in side webbing got a did absorb it quite a bit which could be an issue if you are planning on using this coat for deer hunting"

"The jacket fit very nicely and appeared good quality but I returned the jacket before using it in the field because the hood was to small. I couldn't pull it over my head when the jacket was zipped up and it pulled the jacket material tight at the shoulder blades when I was wearing it."

"I have the Sterns Mad Dog Growler in Advantage Max 4 HD and have been very happy...kept me dry in rainy Northern Quebec late spring bear hunt. I had been looking for a similar jacket in Realtree AP so was psyched when I found this. I have not tried it out yet...bow season starts next week...but if it is of the same quality I would give it 5 stars. Seems quiet and well built especially for the price. Its not insulated but I like to layer anyway and it packs down nice for its size. I bought the pants also and they hopefully are the same."

Not water proof at all,

"The solid color material acts like a sponge. In a hard rain the water runs down to the end of the sleeves and gets obsorbed by the solid color fabric and will not dry. Also the same with the band at the waist. You can ring the water out like a wash rag. Also it takes forever to dry out because of this problem. I don't kown if this is a defective jacket or a common problem."

The hood stays up in a wind.,

"After 60 years of hunting this is the best light jacket I have ever had. The Growler Jacket does not feel water proof but I just put it to the test. Coming home from this mornings duck hunt was windy and very wet. I got several gallons of wind blown spray in the boat but I was dry and the hood stayed up as the boat drove into heavy wind. All I did was zip the jacket up and the hood fit great. No draw strings, no nothing, just a great fit."

"it's hard to beat this jacket for the money. the sizing seemed a little small versus other jackets, but that only really comes into play if you are layering under it for colder weather. i only wore it maybe 5-6 times on hunts, but it seems to be holding up well."

"Seems like a good jacket for the money. Max 4 - HD camo pattern looks good; I also like the 'quiet' fabric. The hood could be a little bigger / deeper; also, the hood draw string/cord is positioned higher than I expected (about cheekbone level); but maybe it's supposed to be that way to cinch more around the brim of your hunting hat(?)."
