Good waders but not perfect,November 23, 2009

"Overall the supermag wader is a good pair of waders. Best thing is they do not leak in the seams or anywhere else like my last pair of Lacrosse. The seams in these waders have neoprene tape on them which help to prevent leaks. The boots keep your feet warm. The boots are bigger than normal but that’s because of the 1600 grams insulation. I haven’t had any trouble walking with them. The removable shell holder is nice but I haven’t used it yet. I like the front pocket with Velcro flap and front handwarmer. The boots fit true to size on me. I wear a 13 shoe and the 13 wader fit perfect. The only things I would improve are the straps and adding a fleece liner. I like it when there is a connector strap between the two straps in the back which keeps the straps from falling off your shoulders. There isn’t a connector strap on these waders. Sometimes the straps work there way loose. One side does it worse than the other because of the way the buckles are made. I put some duct tape under the piece that keeps the straps tight and that keeps the strap from coming loose. I do like the fact that the strap is not all neoprene only the part that goes over your shoulder. And the part of the strap that goes over your shoulder has some texture on the inside of it to help it stay in place. My old waders had a fleece liner and that helps when you’re in cold water. I can tell a difference in temperature on my legs not having a fleece liner. Other than the straps and not having a fleece liner these are good waders. The things I mentioned are not bad enough to not buy these waders because the good out weighs the bad"

"i have been hunting 10 years and usually buy waders about every 3 years and i was usually stuck on lacrosse until the 3rd pair i realalized all of my leaks were coming from my boot so i tried these out and my buddy had the same pair i used them a couple of times and looking at the construction of the waders you can tell they are very durable i was weary about going with the well insulated 1600 cause i hunt in mid tn and dont think i would need them but i figured you can always take clothes off and it is really nice in the 20 degree weather only having to wear 1 pair of socks and a pair of sweat pants. Another good feature is that i am 6"4 and the waders come all the way up so my chest pocket is not under water these waders are great i am really impressed and i think most of the time when you buy waders you really just pay for the name brand but that name brand doesnt garuntee a full warrantee they is always somthing they dont tell you i would buy these GREAT!!!"

"i have not yet used these but have worn them and found they are quite warm. my only complaint comes in the sizing. i am 5'7" 130 pounds and wear a size 9 hunting and work boot. the boots are a tad big, no biggie. the problem i have is the inseam is too long and the overall fit is baggy. im sure i can fill the extra room with more layers."

"I highley recommend these waders to anyone who is looking for a tough, user friendly and warm set of waders. This year I had to wade through some pretty tough marsh with windfalls and hidden objects just waiting to tear into my new waders. Needless to say I made it through this two hundred yard mine field and was rewarded with an excellent day of shooting. Standing in waist deep water I did not have anyleaks in my waders at all! "I love these chest waders. I used to wear the heavy 5 mil neoprene waders that were to hot for the typical midewest winters. The neoprene waders were expensive and I typically got about a season and a half out of them before they started to leak.

"These waders are awesome. Super warm which is nice for those cold mornings. They are durable, and have nice additional features. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a warm and comfortable wader. My only gripe if there is one, is the "size" so to speak. I am 6'3" tall, just under 200lbs, and wear a size 15 shoe. They are pretty baggy in the midsection/thighs, but overall, a great wader."

"This is my second pair of SuperMag waders and they are great. "I read some reviews before my purchase of the so called " Super Mag," and have to admit seemed pretty impressed. For the serious waterfowl hunter, they seemed to have it all: thick in mm's, wide boots double padding in all the right spots etc. From the very first time I put them on they began falling apart. No joke, seams around the "goods" began to rip only after a few trips. After about two months of walking just a few hundred yards twice a week they began to rip around the knees, and the boots began to crack and start to leek. I had these waders for a total of three months before I thew them in the trash can.... I hope this is not typical of cabelas waders but have heard the same results from more than just a few guys. I can not believe so many people dont take the time to use things before they write about them. If a pair lasted five years this company would never make it. I would look at spending more on a different brand, a few dollars make all the difference in the world. Chuck"

"I would highly recommend these waders to any serious waterfowl guys like me. If you like hunting in freezing waters and when the ice is hard to remove, you got the waders right here. The only thing Cabelas should consider is to insulate the whole boot. The feet are ok but from the ankle to the tibia it's missing a little bit more insulation. But overall they are really superb and a must have for hardcore hunters. They are built really tough and they can take a beating. Good job Cabelas."

"I purchased two pairs for waterfowl hunting for my son and I. We have not used them yet. Upon trying them on, they seem of good quality and very warm. Boot sizes seem to be correct with room for a extra pair of socks if needed. Would like to see a little more room in the body, per size, but they stretch out and you can fit extra clothes inside. On a down side, they are very heavy to carry around but still comfortable to walk in."
