Just Like the Name Says, September 17, 2007
By PacDucks from Puget Sound, WA

"This product provides a very tough and very rough non-skid surface. I used it on my boat and it was an amazing product. I give it the highest recommendation. It went on easy, dried fast (to the touch) and cured hard.

My buddy used it on the wood floor of a blind and although the wood tended to soak it up a little, two coats provided the same tough non-skid surface as it did on my boat.

It cleans up with just water too.

I highly recommend using the Tuff Coat roller. It really helps distribute the non-skid bits.

may not be enough, September 18, 2009
    By kirkddddddd from oklahoma

"the non skid coating did a decent job, however a gallon may not be enough. i put down primer before i used this product, i used i quart of primer to cover the entire floor of my 16' boat. when i went to put down the non skid coating i used the entire gallon. I barely got a good coat on my boat. i diluted the mix with a little bit of water as stated in the instructions, still it was barely enough. i have a lot of thin spots that i know will really show once the boat is out in the sun a little. Product is good, but the price is too high in my opinion."

Tuff Coat on Boat Deck, July 15, 2009
    By Odom from Virginia

"Used Tuff Coat on a 24 year old boat deck that had been left in the sun for extended periods. The covering on the aluminum deck was a type of thin textured material that had held up well over the years, but was starting to come loose in small patches. I left the original covering in place, cleaned it, and then primed it with a good grade of paint that kills mildew and fungus and seals the surface. Finally I coated the deck with Tuff Coat, The result is that I have a nice looking deck that is durable, non-skid, and fairly easy to clean. I learned a couple of important tips during the application process; priming with a good grade of paint made applying Tuff Coat very easy and you need to stir Tuff Coat almost constantly in order to get the non-skid particles mixed in with the paint. I am very satisfied with this product and will use it again."

    Tuff Coat, June 5, 2009
    By behounek

"I purchased a gallon of tuff coat for the bottom of my jon boat. For those duck hunters out there with olive or olive drab boats, i would strongly not recommend using this tuff coat if you want the color to match. Maybe i got a bad can (yes i did stir it enough), but it was like an off white green color, very far from olive or olive drab. Because the color was so far off im going to have to buy spray paint and paint over it. It dis-serves the purpose of putting it on in the first place. On the other hand, it appears to be very tough and it wasn't bad putting it on."

Tuff Coat Coating, May 26, 2009
    By Elkhornsdon from Clancy Mt.

"It takes at least two one gallon cans to apply 2 coats necessary to cover floor area of 14ft. fishing boat. Dries rather quickly and does help on non-skid in a aluminum boat. It is rather expensive with shipping costs unless you have a local store. Coverage advertised is not accurate to provide the necessary 2 coats for proper installation."

tuff coat non skid, May 26, 2009

"I thought that it looked good but after fishing all weekend it started to rub away after a day or so. Also it collects dirt like a magnet and for the price you pay per gallon its not worth it."

peeled after painting, May 13, 2009
    By fishingsteel

"I had a very poor experience and feeled i wasted time and money on the product. Painted my aluminum boat floor and followed the steps and paint peeled after first venture out. For the price i would have exected much better results! I personally would not recomend this product, at least not for aluminum application."

    Carpet Alternative, May 8, 2009
    By neslocs from Peoria, Illinois

"The carpet on the front deck on my 12 year bass boat was done. The water had made the wood rotten, and it was time to replace the wood. I was not sure if I should go with re-carpeting the deck, or go with a non skid paint. After talking to a couple of hunting friends, I went with the non skid coating. It was easy to follow the instructions, but I learnt that you should use the bottom half of the tin, and make sure you really stir the content..... a lot. Otherwise you end up with a lot of grain and little paint. It took 3 coats before I had good coverage, dont rush the process. It took me 3 days. It is does not hold the heat, and great on bare feet :) Oh you the roller that comes with this product works wells, you even clean it in water to reuse."

    easy product, April 9, 2009
By Wayner33 from Spanish Fork, Utah

"I applied this to raw plywood with a 4 inch brush. It went on easy but I had to thin the second coat a little with water. Tough as nails, I dropped a anchor with spikes on it and you could not tell. I used the tan color it is a little darker than the picture. It is pricey that's my only complaint."

Does what it's suppose to, October 28, 2008
    By ryanshootsducks from Marion, NC

"First and foremost, this stuff does what you want it to do. With that said, you're probably going to end up paying more than you planned to get it. This is the second time I've used it and I completely abuse my boat. Fisherman can expect to get a good 7- 8 years out of it, while duck hunters may get 5- 6 years out of it. You can also roll it over the old coating with no problems as long as the surface is some what clean. The stated coverage area is a little high, and you better plan on using at least two coats. 2 gallons of this stuff will just cover the front and back deck and the floor of a 17 foot boat. Thats not including a rod or gun box depending on the layout of your boat. Don't compare it to traditional truck bed liners, because it is completly different. With two coats it dries hard not spongey, and is only going to be about 3/8 of an inch thick. It does offer very good traction if applied right and the directions are followed. The lower the humidity the day you put it on the better. I suggest either buying the recommended roller sold seperately, but I've also used a "medium" textured roller for popcorn ceilings (looks like a plastic brillo pad) and it work just fine. With either roller though you better have a lot of elbow grease to roll this stuff out. Also if you plan to use your boat during the summer, I suggest you choose a light color tone or you'll reget you ever didn't. It does help to dampen noise from you boat, and if possible avoid rolling this stuff over any hinges to compartments."

    By jaboxxx from willits, california

"I fish on the Pacific Ocean where conditions can be severe. This product does fairly well but I have had trouble with it adhering to other surfaces, and gradually peels off. It doesn't do well on areas where gas is sometimes spilled on it."

Tuff Coat Non Skid Coating, September 23, 2008
By Dognducks from Silver Spring, Maryland

"I purchased this product to redo two decks on my duck boat.

I followed the directions as indicated on the can - I cleaned the aluminum surfaces, primed them with an approved metal base primer and allowed the primer to dry for 24 hours. I then applied the Tuff Coat in two coats - the first coat was blotchy and did have bare spots. The second coat covered the bare spots and had a more "uniform" appearance. My issues with the paint were the following:

    1. I applied the paint at the stated conditions - 70F and low humidity; yet it took almost 18 hours for the paint to dry to the touch.

    2. As the paint dried, one of the chemicals appeared to precipitate out of the paint and I now have a blotchy spot on one of the painted areas. If I had applied this to a bass boat I would not have been pleased but since it's my duck boat it's okay but I honestly expected better performance based on reputation and cost.

tuff coat non-skid coating paint, September 8, 2008
    By Peza from Pinedale, Wyoming

"I painted the seats and top deck of my boat with the non skid coating paint. The paint is a little hard to apply, needs a good hard roller as they sell with the paint. Only used my boat once since it was painted. The non skid coating is holding up great so far and gives a sure footing when walking around in the boat. I take my two dogs when I go fishing and the not-skid surface it great for then as they are alway moving around in the boat. I am very satified with the result of this produce."

Not for aluminum, March 26, 2008
    By 99Cord from Redding, CA

"I bought this product and used it on my aluminum 18' Tracker boat. Prepared the deck accordimg to instructions, looked and felt great, but the first time out the stuff started peeling off in sheets. Might be good on other surfaces just not aluminum. I just decided to pay the money and get a spray on liner."
