When German master boot maker Alfons Meindl finished this series of boots for us, he had one word to describe it - "Perfekt™". In fact, they're built so well, they're recommended by the American Podiatric Medical Association for their foot-friendly construction. At the heart of the series is a layer of natural cork that not only protects your joints from shock, but molds to your foot for custom support. Added to this is a Poron™ heel insert that resists compression for even more shock absorption and a comfortable walking stride. A moisture-managing layer over the footbed draws moisture away and transfers it to a dispersing layer, so your feet remain dry and comfortable. A 100% waterproof/breathable GORE-TEX® membrane keeps the sloppiest elements sealed out. And the DIGAfix® lacing system snugs the boots around your instep and heel, eliminating slippage without pinching or binding. A rugged polyurethane midsole adds an additional layer of comfort, and the Multigrip® rubber outsole offers no-slip traction on loose terrain. The 7 " Nubuck Hiker is uninsulated for comfort in warmer temperatures and has the added durability of full-grain nubuck leather. Made in Germany.

"I have always had a hard time finding boots that I liked, until now. These are very comfortable boots. They do take a bit to break-in but it is not bad at all. I wore them for 4 days at work and then went chukar hunting in them and my feet were happy. If you are looking for a good pair of hikers, look no further..."

"Meindl are great boots and they will tend to last twice as long as the average boot. These are just a little heavier than i expected for an archery hunting boot. These boots would be great for early Deer season but keep in mind that in my opinion Meindl boots take a couple seasons to fully break in."

"I love my perfect hikers! I had a pair of Meindl boots when I lived in Austria and they where the best boots I have ever had! I wore them for two years straight with no problems! So you can imagine my delight when I found out that Cabela's put their name on a boot made by Meindl. I love these boots because It had a minimal break in period and my feet stayed dry and comfortable on my last few excursions including chasing elk in the Rocky's with snow up to my knees! These boots are almost "Perfekt" like the the title of them. I guess I would have to say to accomplish the perfect status they would need a rubber covered toe to help protect the boot from sharp rocks that you encounter in the high country. Other than that I would say you can't beat the boot and the price is great for such quality!"

"depending on what i am doing and my duration of travel, my hiking gear weighs from 90lbs-130lbs. i go up arizona sandy hills and around rocky trails by lakes. these are the only shoes i have ever warn that do not slip! besides the great tread, these boots are extreamly comfortable! not to mention they are nice to look at.
definatly worth the price, these boots were made durable, and built to perform.

"This is the second pair of these I have purchased. The first pair i hiked all over Arizona and Colorado in, including a trip down into the Grand Canyon and back out. Besides hiking in them, I have ridden probably 20,000 miles on a Motorcycle in them in all kinds of weather. The only fault I could find was that they are not re-soleable. When you wear the heals and soles out, you are done. Time to buy a new pair, and that is what I did."

"I recently wrote a review about the Perfekt Hunters that I bought and how I liked them so much that I ordered the Perfekt Hikers. They came earlier this week and they sure have lived up to my expectations so far. As I do with all of my boots, hunting and cowboy boots, I wet them real good, put 'em on and took off....then oiled them real good after they dried and formed to my feet . I'm in the hunting business in South Texas and it's that time of the year that we get real busy. I've had them on every day since they came in and eventhough they were completely comfortable right out of the box, they've only gotten softer and more comfortable every day. I go thru a lot of boots in the sometimes dry but often muddy, rough, thorny South Texas Brush Country. I believe these boots are going to stand up to the test at least as well as anything I've worn. I don't think you can beat Meindl boots for quality or comfort.....time will tell but so far, I'm sold on them and can't see myself buying any other boot!"

"Fairly happy with these boots, with a couple of reservations.
I wear a slightly wide width and the 8.5D fit my feet pretty well using a medium-thickness hiking sock.
During a six-mile break-in hike over fairly flat terrain, I developed a hot spot on one of my feet that would have turned into a blister if not for some judiciously applied moleskin. So I would recommend bringing along moleskin and/or another sock layer during your break-in period.
Waterproofing is excellent. Wet traction is poor to fair. Dry traction is good. Worksmanship seems good. Lacing for foot and ankle support good.
I liked the inclusion of an optional mesh insert which one can use if they're wearing thinner socks--nice detail that shows the company is thinking.
I've only had these for six weeks, but so far am fairly happy with the boots overall. Hopefully the hot spot point will break in and perhaps the soles will do better in wet terrain after some scuffing. A Vibram sole would make these a homerun!"

"I have ordered and worn 4 pair of these shoes over the past 5 years. I use them every day doing farm work and a few days of hunting. Dirt, water, and snow are no problem; add a pair of wool socks for greater comfort. Considering the fact that I have had major foot surgery, these shoes provide excellant support through out the day. Try a pair and you will find the value to price to be very good."

"Bought these for Elk Hunting in Idaho. Feet are comfortable at the end of the day, but their weight does become apparent after a full day. That being said, weight is the price you pay for that level of support and when you are on shale or scree all day, you have to have it."

"There is no doubt this boot is heavy duty, well constructed and waterproof. The only reason I rated the down is because they are heavy and very stiff. They made my ankles sore for two days every time I hiked in them. I finally returned them. If you do purchase the boots, give yourself plenty of time to break them in. One last item, read the care instructions before you wear them. You are supposed to apply waterproofing to the suede leather before the first use. Meindl makes a line of products specifically for their boots, but Cabela's doesn't carry the line. You can't use just any waterproofing, it has to be suede compatible otherwise it will clog the suede leather. NikWax Nubuck & Suede proof is the best I found."

"This is the 3rd pair of these boots I have owned and I love them. They have always fit great from the first time on my feet. I wear them as a work boot 5 days a week summer and winter in Vermont as a builder. With the new style of the uppers they have solved the only problem I have had with them. With the old style the stitching would always let go and they would need to be repaired at least once a year. If you decide that you want a good medium hiker you will not go wrong with these."

"I've purchased several pair of less-expensive boots over the years and inevitably suffered the results of cheap boots. These are nothing like the less expensive versions.
Immediately after purchasing these boots, I went out for an 11 mile hike of South Mountain, in Phoenix, Arizona. Out of the box, they were extremely comfortable and I did not have any blisters at the end.
I’ve since been on over 50 miles of hikes, all of which were at least six miles of backcountry hiking, including a pouring rainstorm with water up to the ankles. They worked flawlessly and kept my feet extremely dry and comfortable the entire time. I would highly recommend these to anyone who wants the ultimate boot."

"TAKE IN MIND I AM AN AVID HIKER AND HUNTER WHO PUTS IN MANY MILES ON MY FEET. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE, BLISTERED BOTH HEELS AFTER WALKING ABOUT 3 MILES ON A TEN MILE HIKE. THIS IS AFTER I THOUGHT THEY WERE BROKE IN. I HAVE HAD MANY OTHER BOOTS THAT COST A LOT LESS THAT WERE WAY MORE COMFORTABLE.
