"These boot are pretty warm, I have never had a problem with them as far as that goes. The leather has a very strong smell that takes a long time to get rid of. It is not that big of a problem if you notice it before you go hunting. I sprayed down just like normal the first time and got busted by every deer I saw. I had never had a problem before and it took a while to figure out what the deal was. They are good boots just make sure you kill the scent before you hunt something that you dont want to smell you."

Gore-Tex ain't what it used to be,September 5, 2009

"The boots performed well enough for a week of Grouse hunting in the pucker-brush of Northern Maine but now they appear to be falling apart and I'm afraid to risk a second season with them. It seems like all the Gore-Tex products I have purchased from Cabela's do not perform as advertised."

"I puchased the boots a month ago and tried the product on Attu Island in the Aleutians over a 14 day period. I selected the boots since they represented a fair compromise for traversing variable terrain including relatively dry mountainous areas requiring ankle support and wet lowlands where waterproof foot wear is needed. After a week of field work, the stitching on the boots where the leather uppers attached to the goretex began to fail in two places and the boots began to leak. I used a leather treatment on the leather parts of the boots repeatedly during the two week period and this did not prevent the stitching failure. I would not recommend the boot for serious field use."

"I purchased my first pair in October 2007 and they kept my feet dry until the 2008 Spring turkey season when they began leaking. I returned them and Cabela's kindly replaced them with another pair. My mistake! I should have exchanged them for a different brand. Same scenario for the next pair. I took them back the following July, but they would not replace them. Said it had been over a year...so much for 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed!"

Not fit for Southeast Alaska,June 1, 2009

"I live in and hunt Southeast Alaska, a temperate rain forest. In a single day I hunt from sea level to 2,500 feet in elevation; crossing rocks, timbered hillsides, alpines, creeks and muskegs (Alaskan swamp). I bought these boots with high hopes the GORE-TEX liner would stand up to it's reputation. The first few times I wore them I was impressed with their comfort, traction and dryness.
The boots are now just over one year old. I've worn them no more than twenty times and am no longer satisfied with their performance. The boots are still comfortable, but they are no longer waterproof. I wore them in December on a blacktail hunt and came home with wet feet. I chocked it up to either sweat from a pretty intense hike/climb or maybe I stepped off in a hole with water deeper than the boot. My recent brown bear hunt in May revealed otherwise. Once again I returned to camp with wet feet; wet enough to wring water out of my socks.
If you're looking for a boot to wear in a place with occassional dew or a morning shower on your way to a treestand or turkey blind I think these boots would work well for you. However, if you hunt a place where the terrain is always wet, or should I say soaking wet, and you invest numerous hours on spot and stalk hunts, I cannot recommend these boots. As for the pair I own, They have been assigned the duties as my grass cutting boots.
On a positive note, if you're looking for quality waterproof fleece, I highly recommend the Cabela's Revolution Fleece. I've hunted Alaska with these clothes for five years and have been truly satisfied.

"I purchased these boots one week before turkey season and with the basic shipping supprisingly fast. I wore the boots for the first time opening morning of the season. With a new pair of boots you expect to have to break them in, i walked over ten miles that weekend and not a single blister. The boots breathe very well so it kept from sweaty feet. But the best thing about the boots is the time it takes to put them on . All you do is slip on and zip up, by far the best boot for your buck."

"so i bought these boots cos we go into the amazon jungle, and i wanted boots that would protect me from snakes and also keep the water out. So the first day was good the boots were dry, the second day, the left boot started leaking, by the end of the 2nd day water would come in real easily. and then by the 3rd day water was slightly coming in on the right boot. I had to wear a bag over my foot when i put my foot in my boot. Seems like a decent boot except not waterproof at all. Hopefully cabella's will either fix them or give me a refund."

Lack waterproofing,November 12, 2008

"I bought these boots because of the easy on/off zippers last April for turkey hunting. One boot fit fine, the other required an extra sock so I wouldn't get a blister. The waterproofing seemed to work just fine in the spring. Yesterday, (Nov.), I used them again for pheasant hunting. Although I only stepped in water a couple inches deep, I came home with two wet feet. As another reviewer had the same problem, the waterproofing seems to disappear with time. ??

"These are the first boots that I have used other than rubber for bow hunting.Early season has always been an issue with sweating feet and these boots have been the answer.Very comfortable and super lightweight.I have a pair of the insulated model and will be testing them soon here in Iowa during the all day rut hunts.I'm sure they won't dissapoint.Great boots!!"

"I liked the easy on and off ability of the zipper boot and I thought they were very comfortable to wear but the first time I wore them in the rain my feet were soaking wet ten minutes into the hunt. I could feel the water sloshing around in the boot. If a boot claims to be 100% waterproof then it should be exactly that. I called Cabela's to see what my options were and I decided to do an exchange return and ordered a pair of Rocky® 15" SWAT Snake Boots. We'll see if they perform any better. You have got to hand it to Cabela's for their customer service."

"This is the 3rd pair of these boots that i have owned. The 1st pair lasted several years and held up great so I bought a 2nd pair and they leaked right from the start. I must say though that I called cabelas customer service and the boots were replaced without any issues which made a mad guy into a happy one if you know what I mean. I have only worn the new boots 1 time so far and they seem to be o.k. I wear these boots hunting for turkeys, deer and even quail so I give them a pretty good workout. I would have gave the boots 5 stars except for the fact that I did have to return a pair of them which is kind of a hassle even though cabelas did stand behind their product and replaced them."

"I Read the reviews and decided to try the Pinnacle hunting boot . I ordered a 10 med., but due to the lack of ankle support my feel slipped around,so I sent them back for a size 9 1/2 . The fit was better, and I have grown to like the boots very much. My feet stay dry, and the boots are easy to walk in. The boots had a strong smell at first which lasted a couple of weeks.(I think from the scent lok liner) I would have given the boots a 5 star rating, but my feet still slide around some in them. They wear like rubber boots. Im pleased with the boots, and may end up getting an insulated pair for colder weather."

"Bit disappointed with the fit....purchased the size required for my foot but when I put them on, I required two or three pairs of socks to keep them from feeling like a traditional rubber boot (loose). Wore the boots for a week on hilly, front range of the Alberta Rockies terrain, thought the soles might be a bit suspect in the wet grass and slopes but was happily proved wrong. Not sure if I will be sending these back and trying the same size (might have got a bad production run on the boot), will give them another chance with October and early November Whitetails before I make my final decision. Watched several cow elk cross my trail on several occasions and my scent wasn't detected,...the Scent-Lok must have worked!"

"The boots did not leak when I received them in May 2008 (I carefully waded in the back yard creek to test them). They sat in the closet through the summer and I decided to start wearing them before the bird season to prevent any break-in issues during quail/pheasant season. The second time I wore them, the grass I was walking through was wet and the boots provided almost no protection from the wet grass. I was a little nervous about being able to return the boots because it had been so long and I had thrown away the receipt. The good folks at Cabela's were very gracious and allowed me to return the boots."

"I bought these boot specifically for water proof and scent lock. I got to wear them in turkey season and intentionally went and stood in a creek. My feet stayed dry, which is the first test. As for scent lock, I will not know until deer season."
