Armor-flex™ Chest Protector gives your dog the added benefit of extra buoyancy to stay
afloat during those long-water retrieves. Chest Protector, crafted of Amor-flex™ material
used to reinforce highwear areas in hunting waders, runs the entire length of the neck, chest, and
belly. The seams have been enhanced with extra bartacks for making custom cuts, plus the
Velcro® closure has been widened for increased adjustment in fit. Two side pockets with

"My dog and I hunt very harsh conditions and this product worked well for about a week. Then the material which claimed to be armor flex ripped reasonable easy and the velcro wore out and would not hold. It did help my dog stay afloat however the loose fit, even though it was properly measured, was hurting more than helping the situation. The material did not stay tight and even stretched out over time from being wet and getting pulled on in the brush. Would reccomend more so for someone who only hunts there dog lightly. It just wasnt as tough as i had hoped."

"All in all its a good vest, seems to keep my dog pretty warm and pretty dry. I really like that it has extra stitching around the head and leg holes so you can expand it if you want. What I don't like is what they call the "Armor-Flex™ Chest Protector", all it consists of is a bit tougher material that looks tear resistant but does nothing to protect from impacts. Another thing I wish this one had that I've seen on others is a handle so you can reach down and pick up your dog, but maybe thats just me."

"I bought this vest for my 65lb CLF, and it works great. I tried some of the other vests out there with zippers and the velcro closure is the way to go. It allows for that little bit extra customization. My lab is barrel chested so I had to get a size up from what I had originally ordered. This caused the vest to be a little loose behind her ribs, but I was able to cinch up the velcro to get a proper fit. The armor flex is some pretty tough stuff. She has definitely put this vest through the ringer, running through briars and brush and under fences."

"I purchased this vest for my english setter whom lacked buoyancy. This item has not only removed all of my worries of her getting into trouble in the water but I was also able to incoorporate swimming into her training regimend keeping her body core temprature down on hot days and therefore extending our exercise periods. "I have owned many dog vest... this is clearly the best one. With a 108 pound lab its hard to find one that let's my dog move freely. All vest need to be cut to fit,this one was no exception. The problem with others after the cutting they fall apart. This one is in its second season,we hunt everyday of season in salt water on the outer banks of North Carolina...you need a good dog vest,here you go."

"I had to trim the Armor-flex chest protector to fit. I have a 13 month old female Pointing Black Lab. She is big 83 lbs. On the first trip out it was cold 15 degrees and the Yakima River was just receeding from flood stage. As we were approaching the river Jet went on point, a covey of about 15 quail flushed. Jet broke and jumped over the sage brush and disappeared. I went over and to my suprise the river cut into the river bank. It was about a 10 drop into the river. She was going down the river and eventually got out. I really believe the vest saved her life. Also it was cold enough that water froze to the vest. She didn't shiver and wasn't cold all day. Great product. Thanks!"

"I am on my 3rd pair.When they work they are awesome. My first pair had some material separate on the inside of one of the legs and was not able to be repaired.Cabelas sent a new pair to me. After 1 season the teeth on the zipper broke. Cabelas sent me another pair. I like the idea of having a zipper for obvious reasons.Hope this pair holds up"

"it seems to be holding up well and is performing the basic job it's made for which is keeping my dog warmer and xtra protection for his hide. I do how ever fail to see any xtra protect in the chest area which I wanted due to having submered sticks and trees in my hunting area. I also think there should be more adjustment in the chest."

"However, they run small. I used the chart as directed and they still fit very tight. I own 4 now. So buy a size up and you will be OK. Another thing to consider is they hold heat well and your dog may get hot in mild weather of 40-50 deg. My lab works hard hunting pheasants and I have had to remove it several times because she was getting hot. When its raining in the duck blind, this unit helps her stay warm and the floatation works well."

"I have had the old style Cabela's dog vest which has held up extremely well. The new vest seems to be thicker and the armor flex adds extra protection against the little rips and tears that happen.
The vest does a remarkedly good job of keeping the dog dry underneath and the extra floation is a plus with an older dog.
When I ordered the vest I went by the size chart and had to reorder one size smaller. The velcro works ok but I liked the old zippered version better.
All in all I would reccomend this vest due to the Armorflex and added floatation."

Poor fit for American breed shaped Labrador,December 31, 2008

"I bought the vest for my 15 month old yellow Lab. and sized it based on the chart provided. Because she has a deep chest but is long legged and rangy in her other dimensions, I had to get the x-large to fit her chest. The vest allows trimming to take place up to bar tacks they sew on the seams to prevent unraveling. When we put it on her the first time, it fit her chest depth but had puckers and excess material that made it very loose from her rib cage back to the front of her hind legs. After trimming to give her room for her legs to prevent chafing, I found that there were not enough bar tacks to give the best fit. I also trimmed enough off the front openings that she has gotten her front leg out of the vest one time. Puckers remain above her front shoulder and the velcro is barely attached from the ribs back leaving the vest flopping and open for cold water to flow all along her stomach. If you have a blocky English Labrador, Chesapeake, or Golden, the vest will fit much better. It doesn't fit the rangier American breed Labrador very well."

"We purchased this neoprene flotation vest for our springer spaniel, Timber. It took her a little while to get use to the velcro sound but other than that the vest has been a big hit! It seems to give her much more confidence when making long retrieves. Although you can tell that this vest is made more for a lab after we trimmed it up a little it fit her alot better. Overall I have to say while this vest is more expensive than some of the others it seems to be worth the money so far."

"I highly recommend this item, I feel that the sizing is off for my dog, big chest, but smaller everything else. I trimmed to the best of my ability and it works ok, I might try to have sewn tighter a few areas, but it has not ripped or been torn at all, even after I trimmed. It definitly keeps the dog dryer and warmer. I like the velcro backing so you can tighten up specific areas by just over lapping the velcro more!!"
