"I just want to start by saying I like the vest, you can cut and adjust it 4 your dog. But I will say that they are made for a Lab, my dog has a bigger chest and a small abdomen and it doesn't really fit right. I had to bring it to a seamstres, to custumise the velcro and the abdo part of the vest.
It does protect my dog nicely and keeps her warm. So overall I'm pleased with my product, but if you don't have a Lab get ready to cut and fit alot!!!"

"Great concept.
When fitted it works extremely well. However this vest was obviously designed for the Lab type shaped dog. I have an English Pointer and have had to make cuts well past the bar tacks to enable fitting. Particularly at the underarms (which leaves little material due to deep chest) and around his male parts. This was more of a nuisance than a problem, and was fixed with the addition of more bar tacks.
All in all, a great vest."

"fits better than the other four vest i have and it stays on the dog. i like the very generus velcro strap to close the vest it gives you about a inch and a half of good adjustment for the dogs girth. My dog seems to love it. The vest does not have any spots that pinch the dog like many others i've tryed. My pup wears it fishing with me on the local streams in central New York it stands up to briars and the local shrubery very nicly no rips or tears so far. I love it and would recomend it to any one looking for a great vest for their pup. I bought a large and my pup is a english lab so he's a little stockier than most he weighs 50lbs at six months and it fits perfectly though the chest and shoulders but is a little long for his torso. but the vest has about 3 to 4 inches of leght adjustment."

"We bought this vest for our pointer and it was obviously designed for a lab body-type. Since the pointers have quite a deep chest, we ended up cutting the underside well beyond the last stitch mark to accomodate our dog's male anatomy and then just sewed a new stitch mark ourselves. We also had to cut quite a bit out around the arm holes. If your dog won't be swimming, you might be better off buying the nylon vest that's designed more for the pointer body-type. Otherwise, we're very satisfied with this purchase."

"I bought the vest for my 1-year old chocolate lab. She weighs 85 lbs and I was concerned with the fit. I followed the guidelines in the catalog on sizing your dog. When the vest arrived the fit was pretty close in the chest and neck but a bit long in the back. The instructions for fitting the vest to perfection were great. I was very pleased with the ability to tailor the vest to my dog's size. And, the vest is tough. Really, really tough. My dog can be a knucklehead but the vest is tougher than the dog. In short, this one is a good buy and if you get the fit close the instructions will get you the best fit."

"I like the Neoprene vest for protection of my dogs in heavy CRP. It keeps the sharp grasses from damaging the dogs underbelly. It is very durable. I would like to see a light weight nylon vest developed to be used is warmer weather for dove hunting. This vest would be more for prevention of cocklebur being picked up by long hair dogs like my Gordon Setter."

"I bought my neoprene vest for my cocker, who suffers badly from bramble rash when working in thick cover on pheasant shoots in england, we are near the end of our season and she has only worn it about 5 times, but the nasty pussey mess that her chest was is almost healed and she is so much happier in herself, i wish i had discovered your vest sooner, it has been a godsend. It was looking very rough, even after her first outing, but apart from the pulls in material, which are very superficial, it has coped very well with the brambles, she may get a bit warm in it when we start our next season in September, but i will try to remove it for a while between drives, as it is easy to put on quickly. i am 100% pleased with her vest and hope this one may last a few years but if needed i will definately be back for another one Thank you so much for your great invention."

"First: the size chart is iffy at best, I have two springers one 60 lbs the other 45 lbs. I ordered according to the chart XXL for the 60 lb and L for the 45 lb. Once I received them they were wrong! They both will fit the XL. Second: They don't stand up too well, snags and tears right away on the upper non re-enforced area. Third: They do clean-up easily. Fourth: For the money they are a good investment knowing it will need to be replaced probably yearly."

"My yellow lab blends in almost perfect with the cut corn stalks befor we mow. This vest is great for the color and can be seen for a long distance even in our small 50 acre farm. My greatest problem is getting him in it.He absolutle fights and wines and will not wear it.He has several that he does not have to step into and loves them.Maybe its the color or the feel.I just don't know.3 stars for color,size and quality."

Great protection/ poor size chart,January 14, 2009

"Little hard to decide on size, I went with the size that all of my dogs measurements were inside of. Ended up sending it back because it was too big. My 60lb springer ended up needing a extra large which provided a good fit in most spots. Had to shorten the belly past the last bar tack on the belly seam, he has worn it 3 times so far and it appears to be holding up pretty good. It is a great item for winter use, my dog seams to stay very warm, but this may be too warm for summer/fall use. It has picked up several snags agter a few uses but still looks decent. If your dog does not like the sound of velco being sepperated you may have an issue, but mine got over it after a few times. This eliminated the hours it used to take me to get all of the burrs out of s coat after a hunt, as well as his getting his chest and belly torn up during an outing. As far as I am concerned this is a very good product and when it wears out I will probably get another one."
