"I think this is a great parka..It keeps me warm and dry..Infact to warm but the liner comes out and I was surprised to find that the liner was also camo orange and even included pockets so now I have 2 jackets...Zip them together and you have one heavy jacket...Also I like the hood because it will cover my baseball hat so that stays dry too.."

"So here we are wear my Cabela's Versalon™ 4-in-1 Parka - XXX Tall yep I said tall XXX tall ("Tall" when you raise your arms for a shot you stay nice and warm) if you will and we are in the woods up-nort the wind shes a blowing and the snow is a fallen and we are deer hunt'n with my 4-1 parka on with removable linner insert plenty of pockets for all the important stuff and out walks the biggest buck I ever saw or seen I bet ya it had 23 points on that rack well of course I was ready and I raised it up and took two quick shots and slow put it down keeping my good eye on that big buck all the while but I was too late by the time I got the cap back on the bottle that buck slipped right back into those deep dark woods but I didn't care much cus I was snug and warm in my new Cabela's Versalon™ 4-in-1 Parka - XXX Tall I fell right back a sleep into stealth mode again I can hardly wait until opener again this year nothing like being warm and dry in new hunting gear sitting in the sleeper stand on the chip pile using the office chair with the high back doing what I can managing the deer population"

"I just finished deer hunting and, while I did not have the opportunity to test their waterproofness, the parka and bibs worked great keeping me warm at temperatures around 20. What I really liked about the parka was the removable lining. I took it out and wore only the shell hiking up a mountain to my stand and barely worked up a sweat. When I began to get cold, I put the liner on and zipped it up like a sweatshirt without have to fuss with reattaching it to the shell in the dark."

After opening a box of blaze orange... (Versalon),January 18, 2008

"4-in-1= options: 1) Shell alone, 2) Liner alone with orange out, 3) Liner alone with black out, 4) Shell and liner together. I bought this coat because I needed a replacement to a 10 year old parka shell, safety via high visibility, and comfort/function. After almost two months of use (here in New York, in Massachusetts, parts of Illinois, and Wisconsin from late November to mid-January) I have no doubt about the decision made. It launders well, sheds rain and snow easily enough, staves off cutting winds, is both quiet and tactile (ie- soft). Whether walking or biking in some combination of the shell or liner, I've felt much safer than in some other coloration of clothing. While passing through scrub oak I've had no problems, though such vegetation as multiflora rose or greenbriar/catbriar could be a bit more damaging to the outer material. If need be I can carry a number of water bottles (at least 2 one liter nalgene-type containers, energy bars, smaller books, and all manner of gloves, hats, and other items in the pockets. There may have been a point when the coat was loaded with 10-15 pounds of items. That weight will sit on the shoulders FYI. I ordered the tall version of the product to account for a longer torso and the one shortcoming I'd mention is that the liner portion doesn't seem to correspond with the shell in that regard. I had hoped for both the shell and liner to be equal in their coverage down to the mid-thigh (front) or covering the rear. The shell does, and that's key to sitting in the snow or on ice without getting wet, but some extra insulation could go a long way in that area. The hood can be removed and has a good Velcro closure at the front and does a fine job of acting as a bill to prevent too much precipitation from entering during storms. Goggles can be easily worn with the hood as well, either internally or strapped around the outside, if you're wanting extra eye protection, to go skiing, blowing snow/sand conditions, etc. Bottom line? I hope this investment sees me through at least the next 10 years! It's an excellent product thus far with plenty more inclement weather conditions forecasted for me to continue "testing"."

"Used the parka for 10 day Montana Elk hunt. Despit times of single digit wind chills, snow, and rain, I stayed warm dry and comfortable. Main parka is quiet in brush and trees however inner jacket worn alone is noisy."

"Hi, I haven't tried it out yet as the hunting season is still far away, but I am very please with this purchase. The only reason I didn't give a 5 ***** is because I haven't really tested it out yet in -20C degree, snow, rain etc..... I hunt in northern Ontario, very cold wheather, and it looks and feels like this will keep me warm. Lots of pockets, good fabric, excellent design. Can't wait to test it. Great parka, but really 2-1 not 4-1,May 15, 2007

"I just bought this parka, so in reading this review be aware that I've only worn it at my house on a sunny day.
I really like the versalon shell. The color is nice and bright, and more importantly the shell is almost as quiet as fleece.
That said, I wouldn't call it a true shell because it's substantially heavier than just a shell. This means it won't pack down to use as emergency rain gear, nor will it be as comfortable above say 60 degrees on a strenuous hike ... which describes the first half of hunting season in N. Idaho, dontcha know?
The inside jacket is also not reversible to brown, but to black. This is disappointing but not a deal breaker. More critically, while the black shell is quiet the blaze shell is very loud, which would have have been a deal breaker but realistically I probably will never wear it that way except around camp.
I bought a long size, and the arm length is exactly what I wanted. However, the jacket length is very long, which will work for me but might be comical on some people."
