"We use these shoes in an industrial envirornment and honestly beat up our shoes quite a bit working on machinery. These shoes are very comfortable and last all summer long (we wear boots during the winter months). Overall I'd say it's a worthwhile purchase."

"I was looking for a snug fitting, well supported walking shoe that had a comfortable instep for my arthritic feet on the recommendation of a podiatrist. I was hoping for easy on, easy off, and when I saw the NB 640 in the Cabela's catalog I thought I'd give them a try. They are exactly what the doctor ordered and I yearned for after six weeks of use.
They do run narrow, but I knew that when I ordered and adjusted the size I ordered.

"I odered this pair of shoes because the shoes came in a size 12 1/2
I had previously ordered a size 12 Merrell 'Jungle Moc', slip on shoe ( I am disabled ). But the size 12 'Jungle Moc' was too small for my foot. I saw that the '640 Rugged Walker' came in size 12 1/2, so decided to order that shoe.
The '640 Rugged Walker' fits me just fine. But the heel lining and heel counter keeps deforming when I put on the shoe. I have to keep taking the shoe off, and straighten out the heel lining and heel counter, and try to put the shoe on again.
The Merrell 'Jungle Moc' seems to be manufactured much better, with sturdier leather outer and lining. But the 'Jungle Moc' does not come in size 12 1/2. I will probably order a size 13 'Jungle Moc' next, and hope that size will fit well enough.
New Balance needs to make their '640 Rugged Walker' of sturdier materials."

"I recently purchased my second pair of New Balance 640 Rugged Walkers from Cabelas. Maybe you know how it is when you have several pairs of shoes and you wind up wearing that certain pair more than all the others. These are shoes that make you forget that you are even wearing shoes. Very comfortable, great cushioned support, easy on and off, durable and flexible. Bottom line is that this is a great casual shoe. I am now using my old pair to wear while working in the yard and the garden."
