No Traction on Snow and Ice,

"A great shoe with fit true to foot size ordered. Unfortunately, working in Alaska we have a lot of snow and ice leaving footing slippery at best at times. These shoes have poor traction and grip in snow and ice conditions, especially in extreme cold temperatures when the soles get really hard. Slipped around several times so really have to concentrate on each step I take. Hopefully in warmer conditions the shoe will perform better."

"Overall good chukka...nice features at a good price. Tongue is a bit stiff and hurt a bit until it was flexed enough for break-in. Not comfortable out of the box, but putting up with a break-in period was compensated by the good price. I'll buy 'em again when these wear out."

Good Chukka's At A Resonable Price,

"This is the 5th pair of Cabela's Gore-Tex chukka that I've owned. They're very comfortable, water proof, and tough. For the price, I've not found a better deal & I've shopped around. My only complaint is that the soles wear out way before the upper leather does. For me, they last about a year before they're slick. When they start using better sole material, I'll give them 5 stars!

Great Chukka Boot,

"I love these! It takes a few days to break them in but well worth it. They provide wonderful ankel and arch support and the Gore-Tex lining keeps your feet dry but allowes them to breath. This is one of the finest boots I've ever wore and at an affordable price. A Great Value!"

"I ordered these Chukka style shoes a month ago and have worn them three or four times since receiving them. They have good cushioning and look great. I wanted the taller Chukka after owning and still wearing the Tempest Oxford for the last year. Both styles are comfortable and attractive. I don't wear either of these shoes for any rough activities or in snow deeper than a dusting, but for casual wear to meetings and errands in town. It is nice to know that if I have to walk through slushy patches they will keep my feet dry. The leather is smooth and soft and darkens slightly with age. My only complaint about the Chukka is that is feels tight at the top front (where you tie it), but I may just need to loosen the knot."

"These have been the only shoes I have purchased for the last 8 years. They are a quality chukka with durable quality leather and stitching. The sole has a pretty good arch and breathing sole system w/goretex lining and my feet have never sweated once. Although a little water enters thru the stitching as should be expected on a shoe with stitching, they hold up perfectly thru slush and casual wet environments. If you want to walk thru water, get rubber boots!"

"I have owned these boots about a year and have only worn them a total of about 10 to 15 days. At the end of the day my heels are very sore due to the straight-up back style and very hard leather. I hoped they would be OK after break-in, but they are still very stiff overall and still hurt my feet. The leather treatment has a strong smell that reminds me of the odor from a sweaty horse; I thought it would dissipate after a while but it still very noticable in an indoors setting. After the last bout of sore feet I vowed to put these in the goodwill box."
