Good but takes some getting used to,

"This is a great sharpener but it takes a little getting used to get your broadheads razor sharp. I got my braodheads ALMOST sharp enough in a minute. It took me another 15 minutes to get them sharp enough to shave the hair on my arm with. The Montecs are incredible broadheads but they are annoyingly difficult to get them from 90% sharp to 100%.
One other thing. Don't forget to clean the stone off. I put magic marker on the blades like they say to in the manufacturers video and when the marker came off it made a light film over the stone that needed to be wiped off to make the honing side work efficiently."

"For the amount of money you pay for this diamond sharpener, you would think that the quality would be tops. I found that the 1200 grit surface (final hone) was coarser than the roughing side. Maybe it was labeled wrong. At any rate, I'd look for something better than this if I was in the same position again."

Razor(?) sharp,

"This diamond sharpener does a fair job on G5 Montec broadheads, but I could not sharpen them to my satisfaction, much less shave hair off my arm with the alleged "razor-sharp" broadheads. The 60 degree sharpening angle makes them serviceable, but far from razor edged. It also seemed like the abrasive grit on the sharpener was either gone or significantly less abrasive after I used it a few times. It's overpriced too."

"I switched broadheads from replacement blade type(Sonic Pros) which received damaged on both deer I killed in '07, to the one-piece Montec G5, hoping that it's more durable. The preseason practice heads are a must and the Montec sharpener is what the doc ordered.
This product does what it claims. BETTER than a hard Arkansas that I have as well. But---to get that scary razor sharp edge, it required dragging them backwards across a leather sharpening strop about 5-7 times for each angle, then they easily shaved hair off the old arm!
I'm like a lot of other serious hunters who takes time to be meticulous with his equipment, nothing to question when an opportunity presents itself, like when Nanook of the North steps out!! Good Hunting!"

"Excellent products - works as advertised. Was able to get a very sharp edge on their broadheads. Carry the unit with me on all hunting trips. User might want to visit the Montec web site as they have a very good on-line DVD showing the best way to use the product."

"I started using the Montec G5s this year and took 3 deer with them. They were phenomenal in penetration and led to very short (and visible) blood trails. For each animal I shot, I used a brand new G5 which were extremely sharp. Using this sharpner is easy and seems to put the edge back on nicely. Makes sense to have being that these broadheads are so tough. Worthwhile to have."

"Overall the sharpener works well. I did not get the razor sharp edge that I was looking for. I used a regular OL' arkansa stone (medium) I believe to obtain that really smooth shinny edge.
The sharpener is very handy and will put a decent edge on the broadhead, but it just leaves that last little bit to be desired."

"I shoot G-5 and have been very happy with them. This new sharpener only enhances the broadhead. If you do shoot the g-5 broadhead then do yourself a faver and compliment them with this sharpener. Easy to use .

"The montec sharpener is a vital piece of eequipment for getting those broadheads razor sharp. I recently switched from spitfires to the Montec because I wanted a one pieece super solid broadhead. I love the Montec's but to be honest they come out of the box somewhat dull. However after watching the free video from G5 ande using the stone I was amazed at how sharp I could get them. I personally enjoy taking time to make adjustments and tuning my broadheads; some people dont. So if you dont like getting "personal" with your broadheads I would reccomend a different stone. The stone calls for a delicate touch and prob 10 mintues of slow work with each broadhead. If the directions are followed and you take your time you can make your killing heads scary sharp.......good hunting"
