"We would highly recommend this ramp. It is easy to use and our big golden retriever mastered the walk up and then down very quickly. Do use a lease to make sure they don't decided to try and jump though. Excellent purchase. Has saved our day! Very sturdy and managable."

"I'm glad I paid the extra $'s for this ramp.
I managed to pull the little tie spring thingy apart while playing with it immediately after it arrived, but it went back together and is still working fine.
It comes with training hints to prepare your dog for its use, but I'd done a little (very little) agility training with my old hunting Lab and she took to it readily.
My Land Cruiser tailgate makes it difficult to fit a ramp, but this one just drops into place. It folds nicely - remember to place your hands in the cut out grip area and there's no need to worry about pinching.
The ramp track gives excellent traction and confidence to the dog.
Wish I'd bought it as soon as my hunting partner started having difficult jumping in."

"We have a 7 year old, 90 lb. lab and an SUV. It was getting harder and harder for the dog to get into the car. This ramp is a great find! I was hesitant at first due to the price but as our dog loves to ride in the car, even for quick trips around town, I decided to bite the bullet and get it. It was worth it.
The ramp is very sturdy and works best going into the back of the SUV. It gives just the right amount of length so climbing up isn't difficult. It folds in half and stores in the back with no problems. It took a little confidence training on the part of the dog but now there is no hesitation. You will not be disappointed in this ramp and your dog will love you!"

"Well, the bad news is that it is plastic (isn't everything!) The good news is, it get's the job done. I was concerned because I have 3 dogs. My Golden Retreiver weighs in at 120 lbs., my German Sheppard at 100 lbs., and my mut at 50 lbs. And, as I suppected they all hit the ramp at the same time. It looks like Grand Central Station. The ramp holds and supports the dogs with no apparent problems. It's light enough to handle and stores without too much trouble. I guess you have a winner there!"

"Our 7 year old chocolate lab is going blind (genetics). We needed something for him to use entering and exiting our SUV and truck. The ramp is great, its just what the doctor ordered. Its sturdy, and well made. As others have mentioned the ramp face is great for the dog's reassurance. And like some dogs, he is hesitant to go up and down, but its much better than having him slam his head into the side of the vehicle jumping in. We should have bought this when he first started going blind as it would have made the training curve much shallower. I rely on the reviews about the Cabela's products I shop for and could not encourage you more to buy this product if/when your dog requires the assistance. Yes its a little heavy, yes its a little awkward, but it will easily outlast the user and that's what you want; a product that out preforms your expectations. We all dread the day when that blue-eyed puppy has grown up and is starting to fade, this ramp will ease that day for you and your best friend."

"my pet retriever weighs 77lbs and the petsteps limit is 500lbs. no need to worry, my pet is happy to go up and down the ramp instead of jumping on and off. he's 9yrs old and deserves a break. i recommend this to all pet owners who's pet is aging to get a pet step..ALOHA!"

"This should be renamed as back saver 1. We have 3 Vizsla's that range from 85lbs to 45lbs and in age from 13 to 7. When we camped we had to pick them up all 3 of them to get them in and out of the camper. Man what a back saver. Sure they were a bit unsure of it but a dog treat is alot easier on the back than 85lbs at 2am."

"We purchased the Petstep II pet ramp to use with our 5th Wheel Camper for our elderly labrador retriever. It was difficult for her to go up the steps and now she can enter and exit the camper very easily by using the pet ramp. Great purchase. I recommend this product very highly."

"I have two older, disabled dogs and they both weigh over 75 lbs. The ramp is very sturdy and easy for them to use. The only problem, is that the wire that holds the unit together when it is closed, is very weak. It only lasted for one day before being stretched out of shape and is now worthless. Other than that, the ramp is great! It's hard to find products that actually match their description. This one comes pretty close so I would recommend it!"

Petstep Ramp for old German shepherd, April 29, 2008

"Hi,
Our nine year old German shepherd who has just survived cancer and has a bothersome hip immediately took to the ramp, and uses it. She doesn't LIKE it, but she uses it, and it certainly is a lot better for it. It's very sturdy and easy to use. What i find inconvenient is its size when collapsed - it's too large to fit into the trunk of my Highlander (unless i put it across - but then where does the dog go), so i have to put it in the footspace of the backseat. As a neat freak, I would prefer not to do that, and would ideally put it next to the dog and her bed in the back of the car. Maybe I should have tried a different model, but i liked the reviews of the other customers. The model certainly functions well, but just isn't very transportable. The whole idea of having it is using it consistently, not just at home. What would also be nice are more attractive colors (color choices, for one). And a cover you can slip it into so you don't drag the dirt and mud into the car. That's just the neatfreak speaking. Other than that, it'd have gotten five stars."

"I am finding the pet ramp to be very helpful and sturdy to use to load my lab on and off of our truck. It also has legs available for use in and out of a pool and can be flattened for use as a stretcher. It is durable and has a textured finish which helps my dog to feel like he will not slip on the ramp. It was a little steep at first so we moved into the house at a 6 inch step and started there and moved the ramp to higher elevations every couple of days. He is liking the ramp more and more and not fearful of it anymore."

"This is my second one,I used the first for almost three years.
It got run over by a tractor, by a not so good driver.
I was the careless one by not putting it away.Was real happy to get the same model as before to replace it.Could not be more satisfied and would recommend it to anyone that is

"Works great. We have a 7 month old basset hound that can't step up into either of our vehicles. He learned to use the ramp without being lead on his leach after the first day. Our 8 year old dalmation was a little harder to teach because of being set in her ways but has adapted nicely after she learned how much easier it is on her sore hips. Easy to use and store in the back of the pickup. The only thing bad is the spring latch system broke in the fridged weather, no big deal. Don't really need it anyways for our application."
