"I took the Katadyn Water Microfilter on a recent hiking trip to ensure we had safe drinking water. The filter worked great in the field. We had plenty of water for the entire trip. No one got sick from the water."

Awesome filter,March 24, 2009
By tightlines24from Estes Park, CO
"I've only used the filter on a few short trips so far but it has performed great. Built like a tank, I anticipate that this will be the only water filter that I will purchase in a long time."

Excellent Product,November 11, 2008
By Rob226from Billings, MT
"I used this filter for the first time on this years elk camp. It pumped faster than some of the other Katadyn's that my friends were using and I feel like it is easier to cart around too in its small carry bag. The best part is I know that I have about 12,990 gallons to go on this microfilter. As far as survival goes I know this is what I want with me because it is the top of the line for Katadyn and you don't have to replace the filters as often. The only trouble I had with it was getting it to pump from a shallow fast flowing creek. If you can't get that draw thing under the water constantly it can be troublesome to work alone. An excellent product to put in your gear."

Katadyn Pocket Water Microfilter,October 22, 2007
By ckw2from Selma, AL
"This is a must for anyone spending time away from home or in emergency situations. This was originally purchased as a hurricane supply in case of another Katrina. It is so small and does such a great job that it goes everywhere now and best of all it does so without taking up space. I no longer worry about water quality. I will use this for years."

Best Portable Water Filter Made,October 15, 2007
By Zimhunterfrom North Carolina
"This filter, by far and away, is the best portable water filter made. I have traveled to Alaska and several African countries and would never think of going without it. I have even sent one to my friends in Zimbabwe where the water situation is grave. It is worth the price."

Wow - Well built...,July 9, 2007
By Abqaiq2from Monroe, LA
"I got this for emergency preparedness / food storage (I have never liked 55 gallon drums of water or having 200 bleach bottles of water in the garage). A filter seems like a very good option and a lot more portable.
So I bought it with the mindset that if I am using it I REALLY need it and I have no options. When I looked over the products that are available to do this and read the product lit only the Katadyn product line was able to meet the requirements: water purity, high reliability, tough design, huge water throughput, portable. I just could not find another filter that could do this. Katadyn has 3: this one (small and portable), a camp filter that is big and portable and a drip filter that looks fine as well. For me I just got the smallest one but they all met the criteria.
I got it and read the directions and gave it a try. Another review said the directions were leaving something to be desired but they were all there and very succinct. No problems with that.
Ran 2 or 3 gallons of water through it and then dried it out and put the silicon on the gaskets for extended storage as the directions advised.
As you take it apart it's well built and I had no doubts it would do the job I was buying it for. No issues or concerns with the product design or quality.
Well worth the money...."

Great water filter,April 30, 2007
By vmelfrom Portland, OR
"Don't go with the cheaper water filters. Get one that is going to last you for the long haul if you take care of it. Yes, it is a little pricey, but it is a great water filter that was designed to last. The only thing missing is some better detailed instructions."

Best value per gallon,November 28, 2006
By HuntsInTheMudfrom Bishop, CA
"I've been using the Katadyn Pocket Filter since 1990 and it's still going strong on the original filter! If you are shopping around for the best value, don't be fooled by the lower initial cost of other less expensive filters--the cost per gallon of this filter is unbeatable.
The silver impregnated ceramic filter matrix gets rid of just about every water-borne creepy-crawly known to man. The only thing this filter doesn't do is remove odd tastes--there is no carbon matrix.
Perfect for backcountry enthusiasts, third world travelers, or for emergency preparedness. Buy this filter!"
