"STRONG, POWERFUL FLAME; THIS THING REALLY COOKS! CAN OF SOUP HOT ENOUGH TO SCALD YOUR TONGUE IN ONE MINUTE, BOILED 1.5 QUARTS OF WATER IN UNDER 5 MINUTES, INCLUDING STOVE PREHEAT TIME. PREHEATING TAKES SOME GETTING USED TO, AS WELL AS STOVE SET UP, BUT STOVE PERFORMANCE MAKES IT WORTHWHILE IN THE END. I DO NOT LIKE THE SOOT FACTOR: FLAME FROM THE PREHEATING WICK AND PRIMING CUP DEPOSITS SOOT ON THE LEGS AND BOTTOM PORTION OF THE STOVE, MAKING IT VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SET UP AND BREAKDOWN STOVE WITHOUT GETTING HANDS SOOTY. MY WORK AROUND FOR THIS: LATEX GLOVES, BECAUSE WHO WANTS TO GET THEIR HANDS DIRTY WHILE CAMPING? ALSO, FLAME NOT AS ADJUSTABLE AS OTHER STOVES I HAVE COOKED ON, BUT THIS COULD BE OPERATOR ERROR AS THE STOVE IS STILL FAIRLY NEW TO ME. ALL IN ALL, I ENJOYED COOKING ON MY STOVE AND OTHERS IN MY PARTY WERE IMPRESSED WITH THE COOK TIME; I WAS REALLY POPULAR ON THIS CAMPING TRIP!"

"I like this stove, it does just what it says it can do. My only real complaint is that the flame can't really be adjusted to a low setting, so simmering isn't really possible. I'm thinking of getting an MSR Dragonfly instead, it has a much wider range of flame control, and really only costs a small amount more. It is a larger stove, but still within my size limitations."

"I have had a Whisperlite for a number of years now and since there are no reviews here I decided to write one.
This stove is one of the premier stoves for lightweight travel. It will burn kerosene, Coleman Fuel and unleaded auto fuel. I have never had he need to use alternate fuels and have always used Coleman Fuel. This stove is a big hit on overnight surf fishing trips to the Jersey Shore. Hot coffee is only a few minutes away at any time The stove heats water enough for a few cups of instant cup of soup or coffee in 3 minutes. Once primed and going it is literally a blowtorch. The wind screen and reflector provided are light in weight and useful. Mine has never clogged up and the unit requires minimal maintenance. It has also served in emergencies when the power goes out at home, although when used at home, you must be careful lighting as it does flare up somewhat in the initial burn. Same would be true around tents.
With a minimum of care the Whisperlite International will be something you will to your kids"
