"I bought the thermacell after setting up one morning and being chased out of the woods by the mosquitoes. I was covered in camo heat to toe, bowhunting, but the bugs got so thick around my eyes I was flailing at them and being sighted by everything in sight. After about 30 minutes, I packed up and left, defeated.
The next weekend I was in the woods with my thermacell, blind hunting, and WOW, does it work! I set the blind up, and crawled inside. It was warm, so I had to strip down to shorts and t shirt to cool, but before I did I turned on the thermacell. I got a few bites, but noticed all the bugs already on the inside of the blind trying to get out! I unzipped one of the windows, and didn't get bit again!
I wish I had it when I went turkey hunting last spring - I came back looking like I fell face first into poison ivy. This is the most effective repellent I have used for mosquitoes without scaring deer with the smell (it is odorless, as far as I can tell).
A must have for any hunter/fisherman."

"Used in NC during first week of early rifle season. Weather was unusually warm and there were mosquitos around, but not around me. I watched the little buggers as they hovered just about 4 feet from me peering in through an invisible but effective barrier. Produces a little smoke but did not scare the deer away. This thing really works and I am certainly glad I took it along."

"Works really well in early Archery season or warm Fall Hunting days. My only criticism is that the model I have does not have a hanger or attachement method. To use it I slip it in a gap in the tree stand support. It's fine there but I believe it would be better if the ThermaCELL had a hanger or strap to secure it to the stand."

"Excellent Product.Was skeptical at purchase time, but after one use on an early season bowhunt that was loaded with mosquitos I was convinced.I turned the unit on and the mosquitos were gone almost immediately and I was able to continue my hunt aggravation free for the next two hours before dark. "I haven't had a chance to use this yet, but I have heard good things about it. I also have seen ThermaScent systems which seem to be the same thing with different pads. I figure this is a great way to have something to keep bugs away while hunting and other activities, but also can be used to heat up some scent for greater attractiveness. Unit looks well made."

"The thermacell wasn't completly mosquito free. we used it on the patio and still some mosquitos were being a pest. It was a little breeze on the patio, but I felt it shouldn't have that much affect. Around here the mosquitoes show up at dust and even when its been on for a hour prior to dust."

"I have used my ThermaCell for the past two fall seasons when the bugs were nasty. I hunt from the ground either in a tent or natural blind and without a ThermaCell, I would not have been able to sit motionless. The unit was placed under my seat and was outstanding at warding off nusiance bugs. The operation is very simple and the unit fits easily in my fanny or back pack. The unit is marketed as ordorless but I question if there is anything that deer do not smell. If it is true, then there is no reason for not having a ThermaCell. Besides hunting, I have used the unit with great success at back yard grill outs and other outside functions."

"THe thermacell mosquito repellent works very well. We bought the lantern which comes with the butanes and chemical pad. Allow for the butane to heat the chemical pad (it doesn't take long) and set it in an open outside area. I wouldn't put it directly near plants as this is a chemical. We have placed it on top of a table and underneath a table- works in any location. We are on our second box of butane cartridges and pads. Since we live in the south we have a healthy crop of "skeeters" every summer. We are very happy with this product."

"The order for which I am writing this review was for the Thermacell bulk refill package, which implies that I like the Thermacell. Like is an understatement.....I rely on it. If you're bowhunting or spring turkey hunting in mosquito country you have three options: Use nothing and get eaten alive, use spray repellents and smell bad and feel sticky, or use the Thermacell and forget the mosquitos. I actually don't usually turn it on until I get the first fly-by....and then I crank it up and as soon as it heats up that's all she wrote for the mosquitos. You won't even hear one buzz. If you do, then you know it's time to change the butane cartridge or replace the mat. The bulk package of refills will last me an entire deer season and following turkey season."
