springfield keyed plug in pedestal,August 3, 2009
By chubberfrom Iowa
"Purchased these for my 1860 Jon boat. I set up the boat so I could move pedestals around for duck hunting or fishing. Easy install. Only disappointment is they don't come with screws for mounting. I went and purchased some stainless steel screws for install."

So far so good,July 25, 2009
By mevanfrom orangevale, CA
"Had a problem with the original base plastic center breaking. I purchased newly designed bases and pedestals. I've taken my brothers fishing and had no problems on two trips. would have given 5 stars if I had been out more. My brothers are both 300 + lbs."

Springfield pedistal set,May 4, 2009
By FS1800Ownerfrom Santa Rosa, CA
"These pedistals sets are a convienent way to get everything you need in one package. The choice of heights from 9 to 15 inches is what attracted me. Most pedistals are much taller and require purchasing the components seperatley. This product eliminates the possibility of ordering the wrong part and then having to wait again for what you hope will be the right part.
I orderd the 12" pedistals and found they were too tall for my fish/ski boat application. But I knew the height could be a problem so instead of ordering all four at once I only ordered two. I have now ordered the 9" pedistals and if they are still too tall I can cut them down. It will be easier to obtain the correct height from the 9" posts and then cut all the pedistals to the right height.
As for the product quality, these are not the worlds best but they appear to be well built and should last a good long while. If not, the bases are standard size and several other brands and styles can be installed as a direct replacement with no additional alterations or cover up work to be done."

Springfield Keyed Plug-in Pedestal,November 3, 2008
By guzzlefrom Colorado
"I needed a replacement drivers seat pedestal to replace my permanent solid post pedestal. We do a lot of boat camping and the solid post eliminated too much floor space. After cutting a 3 1/2" hole in the floor to accommodate the keyed base (documentation says 4" but did not need to be that big), it replaced the old Springfield solid post perfectly, even the screw holes matched up. Cabela's had the best price that I could find and the Customer Service was great on answering my questions.
The only negative comment I have is that Cabela's page is very vague about what you are really purchasing. I did a lot of online searching to find the base, post and locking swivel that I wanted and had to do a Live Chat with a Cabela's rep to determine if what they were selling matched the Springfield part numbers of what I wanted."

Gread Pedestal, Easy to Install, Thanks !,August 10, 2008
By Paull562from Bellflower, CA
"I have a 17' Starcraft fishing boat that I am restoring and I baught two of these pedestal's along with Cabela's Advanced Angler II Boat Seats which fit perfectly together. I love the 360 and locking feature. You will need a jig saw to cut a hole in your flore for the pedestel base to sit in FYI -- If you are not too sure which size post to get, get the taller one and you can cut it down to the size the fits your need's. Thanks ! !"

good seat pedistal-- buy the tallest one,May 28, 2008
By imajeepfrom Northern Maine Musky Hunter
"i had a lot of trouble deciding which pedistal height to buy. When i finally ordered the tallest(15") i was happy to see that it was easy to modify. if you arent sure which to get, get the tallest one, and cut the bottom of the pedistal to match your comfort. i like the quality, and would have given it a 5 star rating except the pedistal base has a rough finish, that im not too in love with. good product though, i purchased mine after installing, and using others similar and wasnt impressed with their quality. -keep your line tight."

Perfect for decks with minimal hull clearance,March 17, 2008
By Lackosleepfrom Tampa Fl
"I bought four three piece 9" pedestals because I only had 3 inch clearance below deck and these only require 2 1/2" (from mfg website). I've installed them without problem, and have added a Springfield cam-slider for one, and a 15" pedestal only to interchange as needed. All parts work excellently - the pedestals from the three piece sets lock into the base, the 15" pedestal only does not (although I don't expect it will be a problem with the weight of a person and seat on it!). The three piece sets swivel with the option to lock automatically by lever position at each 1/4 turn, freespin, or to manually lock in any position with a pressure screw knob. The 15" pedestal does not have the holes necessary to lock automatically - you'll have to use the pressure screw knob (from your Springfield swivel mount) to manually tighten and lock into position. I'm not sure why the pedestal only has no base lock nor swivel lock holes as the manufacturer makes a 15" three piece set with those features, so you'd expect the 15" pedestal only to be exactly the same. The cam-slider works great to allow you to keep the seats relatively close to the side wall and still be able to swivel. Simply slide the seat forward while swiveling to afford the clearance needed!"

Plug In Pedestals,November 12, 2007
By Stickmarshfrom Florida
"This type persestal is bad news. It gets worn and loose (floopy) quickly. Use the 3/4 inch (I think it is) threaded pin pedstal for a solid, continuously stable pedestal mount. I am a professional guide and use a LOT of equipment. This is NOT the one you want. Change your floor mount and go with a pin pedestal now."

springfield base and pedestal,November 7, 2006
By DaleMfrom Columbus, Ohio
"I just switched from the round wedge type base and pedestal to the plus-in series type. I find this one more secure and a lot more steady to use. Once you put the pedestal into the base you can feel how secure it is. I will be changing my other seat bases to this type soon. I will recommend this type to anyone that is thinking of changing or wants a base that is more secure and solid."
