Great Holster,March 6, 2009
By Blacksheep462from Heath, TX
"I ordered this holster for my Ruger .357 SA and love it. The leather is stiff and looks like it will last a long time. I am into cowboy action shooting and this beats my other holsters handdown. If you are looking for a high-quality holster, this would be it."

Curved Loop Holster,February 7, 2008
By Charlie70from Lakewood, NJ
"As mentioned before, this holster has two curved loops, not the one as pictured. I was pleasantly surprised at the surdiness and workmanship of this holster and use it for my Blackhawk BN-44 45 LC w/ 4-5/8" barrel. Fit is perfect once I followed Hunter Company advice to just let the gun sit in it for a few days (NO WATER SOAKING!). Next plan to buy the belt in antique brown and the cross draw holster. This is quality stuff without a lot of frills!"

Great Holster for a Great Price,January 23, 2007
By TheElPasoKidfrom Los Angeles, California
"The picture is wrong. The holster has TWO angled loops around it. Hunter is the best gun leather that Cabela's sells. It fits my Uberti 1873 Cattleman Gunfighter like a glove. The leather is very high quality. It's not lined, but so what. No Old West holsters I've ever seen had lining of any kind, just the unfinished side of the leather facing in. I live in California, and have been to the Gene Autry Museum, and seen dozens of examples of original holsters circa 1840 to 1898. Not one of them were lined, no California Slim Jims, no Cavalry Flapped Slim Jims, no Mexican or Wyoming Double Loops, no Jockstraps, no tuck-in loop styles. These are how the original holsters were made, for the Army, Navy, Marines, Militia, Police, Marshals, Sheriffs, Bad Guys and Civilians, meaning no lining at all. Hunter Straight Cartridge 2 inch belts go great with this holster. they fit right, with lots of holes and lots of room to spare, and they buckle up like jean belts, not ranger belts. If you like the real deal, the type of rig a 19th Century American would have worn in the West, than Hunter is your choice. Stick with the straight cartridge belts, though. If you have a 32" waist, then get the medium. A pair of these holsters, L and R, on a straight Hunter belt can't be beat, for for an authentic experience of the real thing. Remember, this holster has two loops, angled like the picture, but two of them. I've seen an example of this exact type of holster that dates to 1872, and was made for an Open-Top Colt 1872 in .44 Henry Rimfire. the last of the great Open-Top Colt Revolvers, and this holster to go with it. That was the original "Short-Barreled Bad .44" because it had a 4 inch barrel."
