You are here: Emerger Dry Flies
If you are consistently seeing rings on the water from rising trout yet they won't touch your replica of the bugs on the water, chances are they are taking the insects during their vulnerable emerger stage. It is at this point in an aquatic insect's life that they have absolutely no means of escaping predators. They are completely exposed, restricted in their movement, and at the mercy of cruising trout. Trout readily key in on emergers for this reason, and you should too.
