"I purchased my Merrell boots a year ago. They were very comfortable. They fit good. They were lightweight. They were warm, almost too warm in summer.
The tread on the sole wore out quicker than I would have expected.
They were not waterproof.
Both boots tore open on the inside by the big toe.
These are expensive boots and I think they should last longer."

"Its hard for me to find a everyday fall/winter shoe, but this one fits the bill perfectly. The fit was perfect and they are not kidding when they say the footbed will conform to your foot. The best most comfortable shoes I own!"

Excellent Hiking Boots,

"I have had trouble finding light hiking boots that are both sturdy and comfortable. These are both. The fit is excellent, traction is outstanding, and they even look good. I wear them for walks in the woods and for day hikes in New England mountains and they are great on the granite and in the mud."

"i found them pretty good, took a little while to wear in. i found the top edges of the boot near the ankle needed to soften up as they rubbed when walking over uneven surfaces (eg rocks). other than that very comfortable."

"I have somewhat wide feet, and I am an occasional hiker (read this as don't have time to break in boots). I bought these right before I went to Bryce Canyon in Utah. Hiked a lot and never had a hot spot or foot fatigue ! Great fitting, feeling shoes. Excellent traction yet, I felt, they had ample stiffness and support for any hike I would do (moderate).
The jury is still out as I have had these for just two months, but due to the wide open lug design of the sole, these may wear down quickly. But still a VERY recommended shoe. Especially for wider feet."

"I ordered these for work and hunting. Since they are leather they have taken several weeks to break in on the pinky toe area and the ball of the foot. Other than that they have been very good boots. I wore them elk hunting last week and was very pleased with their traction on very steep hill sides and slippery rocks. I also got caught in a two hour rain/sleet storm and was exposed the whole time riding on my atv - they didn't leak at all. Hopefully they'll hold together for years to come. I will order these again. Thanks"

"This is the second pair of these boots for me. I still wear the first pair but after10 years of hiking and hunting they are about worn out. These are the most comfortable boots I have ever put on. There is no break in time as they wear great right out of the box. Even my old ones still wear better than any other newer boot or shoe I have."

"Had to return the first pair, seem's they run a half size small. Second pair fit great with little break in. I haven't had them in the hills yet (which is why I give them 4 stars) but I feel they will fair admirably. They have an awesome outsole that I am looking forward to trying on the steeps."

"Quality suddenly dropped a bunch... within 1 1/2 hours I had blisters. And this from a loyal customer who ordered this exact shoe 3 or 4 times every year for 10 years with no complaints. In the past as the pair I was wearing wore out some, I'd just order another pair in a different color and I was set! Not anymore. And never again will I purchase ANY shoe from this manufacturer. I'm SORELY disappointed."

"I have just ordered my third pair of this great hiking boot from Cabela's. I have used them hiking in the White Mountains as well as a work boot on construction sites. They have great flexibility and the sole has fantastic grip for rock scrambles, wet areas and staging. Simply the best boot I have ever owned!"
