Saltiga 30T,October 1, 2008
By Bluefinguyfrom Newhall, CA
"What a sweet reel! I was a die-hard Newell user because of their superior casting qualities but this reel is MUCH better overall. It is a lot more expensive but it's stronger and smoother. The drag is silky-smooth even when you crank it down. I put this reel on an 8' Seeker Inshore rod and it casts live bait as well or better than my Newells. I used it on yellowtail, dorado, bluefin, and yellowfin out of San Diego this last summer and this is now my go-to setup."

Buy One, Then You'll Buy More!,November 26, 2007
By tunajiggerfrom east coast canyons
"i bought one of these in the 50 size for jigging tuna on the east coast. i liked it so much i bought another! like another reviewer stated, pair this reel with a nice light rod like a calstar or graphite usa, and it will shame every other set up on the boat. their durability and casting are second to none. I also own shimano trinidad and torium 30's that have been relegated to back-ups. the saltiga is the go to reel."

Saltiga 20,March 28, 2007
By jirelfrom Winnipeg, Manitoba
"I have used this reel for tarpon fishing tournaments in Costa Rica for the past two years and find it has one of the smoothest and most durable drags of any reel I have used. The tarpon average 70-140 lb and can easily burn out drag systems in weaker reels. This is my second Saltiga purchase and I highly recommend it."

im sorry,December 9, 2006
By tunamanfrom riverside CA
"if the price is to much for you DO NOT TRY IT. ive been tuna fishing since i was 12 years old. i was perfectly happy using PENN jigmasters and the other PENN products. my friend told me to try this real. Now i own 6. if you put this reel on a Cal-star rod, you will be hooked for life. Im sorry. its expensive but their is no other reel .
the only fault is the line cap.the 30T reel will bring in 50lb tuna all day long with 25lb test. we ran into a school of big blue fin that i know the reel could of handled but the fish never slowed town and spooled me. if theres the chance of catching fish that big on your trip back the reel up with spectra. you will gain another hundred yards of line.
but once again my favorite tuna/yellowtail/dodo rig is the 30T with and 8 foot calstar. with the length of the pool and the great casting of the reel you get your bait out there past everyone else to where the fish our. no more waiting for the bait to go to the fish!"
