"In casting my own Jig Heads, the Matzuo Red Jig Hooks are the best I have used so far. They are extremely sharp and make outstanding jigs. As for catching fish... The red "Bleeder" hooks work great, but have smaller barbs than the Gamakatsu Heavy Wire Jig Hooks. However, they are still just as deadly at hooking fish. ."

"These are great hooks. They are very sharp and don't let go. While walleye fishing I caught possibly the largest catfish I've seen on one of these jig hooks. After landing and releasing the fish I looked at the jig and the hook was extremely bent out of shape (side ways) and even the lead color and part of the head was bent. But the hook NEVER LET GO and even required a good tug to get it out with pliers. Many other hooks would have probably let go during the fight. One down side to these hooks is that when getting snagged in rocks the hook point tends to bend over, but a couple swipes with a hook hone gets it good as new. For the cost of these hooks they are tough to beat and I highly recommend them to anyone."

"I am in the practice of cleaning the jig heads before painting by dipping in vinegar. The first batch in placed in a container and covered with vinegar. Most of the paint was removed from the hooks. The second batch were hung from the edges of a plastic container and the vinegar poured in to cover just the lead heads. The result was some of the best painted jigs I have made in 30 years."
