"After thinking about it for far too long I finally decided to go ahead and buy the Reel e Good line winder. It is a simple and well designed product that does just what it is intended to do - lets you spool line on or off a reel. I own a number of fly reels and I'm constantly switching lines or spooling out line to clean it. This product makes what was a chore into something almost fun and easy.
I only gave it four stars for two reasons. First, while the design is good it could use a minor product improvement cycle. The spool reel spindle - the thing you mount spools of line on - is just a bit too large for some fly line spools. This includes Cabela's own Prestige Plus fly lines! As perhaps the largest single retailer of the Reel e Good winder I'd think that Cabela's would make sure it's spools are compatible with the product. The second is the circular line guide that sits between the reel mount and the spool spindle. It just sort of drops into a hole and does not lock in place. As such, it pops out easily when running line through it. I think the designers intended it to be just a friction fit, but that's not good enough. I just pull it out and don't use it (it's not really needed anyway).
Those few minor issues aside, this is a great product that makes line management a snap!"

"This gadget really works great. It is simple but effective and speeds up and cleans up changing of lines. I've only used it with fly lines and it's great. I recommend getting some extra spools for storage of various lines if you use different ones often."
