Dead On,November 10, 2009
By hyper55from Evansville,IN.
"Winchester Partition Gold Sabots in 20 gauge are the best sabot slugs I have used. They hold a tight 1.5" pattern at 100 yards and have taken 2 nice bucks at 90 & 95 yards with the 260 grain 2 3/4" shells."

Get-er-done!,October 20, 2009
By OneFordfrom Lees Summit, MO
"These slugs are extremely accurate and promise major impact damage when shot through an 870 Home Defense with a (rifled) barrel. Make sure you have a R3 recoil pad or you may get a little weak in the knees and a slight watering from your eyes after shooting your first box, I did ;-) New R3 recoil pad and a better attitude, lead to tight shot groups and lots of fun."

Accurate but heavy recoil,October 13, 2009
By Dryhikerfrom coastal Maine
"Last year these slugs were well rated for accuracy among the newer sabot slugs on the market. My local Cabela's had only 3" shells but I wanted to compare them to my old favorite 2 3/4" Winchester sabots. The older slugs were purchased in 2003 and have always fired very nice groups out of my scoped Mossberg slug barrel, sometimes 1 1/2" at 100 yards.
I did bench tests at both 50 and 100 yards, using a thick closed cell foam pad on my shoulder and double ear protection to avoid undue punishment (I am due for a new recoil pad on the old shotgun, I'm afraid!). The new Winchester Supremes patterned reasonably close to my old slugs, and the 3 shot groups were acceptable for any shotgun (2 - 3"). The recoil is significant, as I have found with most other 3" shells. I just don't see much benefit to using them when most of my deer are taken from tree stands at ranges between 15 and 50 yards.
I also shot a box of the 3" Remington Accu Tip sabot slugs, with a pointed acrylic tip on them. One of the outdoor mags rated these most accurate among new slugs, and they are indeed very good shooters. Still, they are only marginally better than my older Winchester 2 3/4" sabots and the recoil is no fun. When my old slugs run out (most years I only fire one or two in anger), I will have to upgrade but it will be to a 2 3/4" sabot. Or maybe I will just use my T/C Encore muzzle loader for the softer push it gives my shoulder...."

Great Shell,August 25, 2009
By outdoorsboy34from Pat Davis, Oshkosh, WI
"I love these shells. Very accurate, and at long range for coming out of a shotgun. I have used these shells for 6 years now, never lost a deer, never had a deer run more than 40 yards. Last year shot a buck at 178 yards, and next night shot a doe at 35 yards. No change much in cross hair position and neither deer ran more than 15 yards after the shot. I have tried many types, Barnes wouldn't open up, Copper Solid wouldn't hold tight patteren, and Hornady was just a joke. Hardly broke the paper target."

Review 8 for Winchester Supreme Partition Gold Slugs
"I was amazed by how far those slugs would go, my back drop from my target is an open lake, the water was splashing about 450 yards out, those slugs get the job done. Last November 160+ Deer at 85 yards facing straight at me, one shot between the fron legs and he dropped like a rock, the slug went straight threw the deer the long ways! Just amazing, i'm hooked no other for me! thanks jj"

Best slug for me,December 31, 2008
By philys21from South Jersey
"I'm using a HR 20g Slug gun and at a 100 yards i can get three bullets to touch consistently. I shot a doe with this bullet for the first time last week and it caused tremendous amount of damage. I'll be sticking with this slug I just wished it was a little cheaper."

Lights out!,December 19, 2008
By SSEsoxfrom Stevens Point,WI
"These shoot great in my gun. Remington 870 Wingmaster Rifled barrel and cantilever scope. My buddys had some trouble getting them to pattern and had to experiment with many diffrent brands and speeds. They had more luck with a slower slug patterned better. Like anything make sure you play around before settling on one slug."

One Happy Hunter!!!,December 6, 2008
By ttank0789from Wellington, OH
"I switched to these slugs from the SSTs this year after hearing nothing but good things about them. On Tuesday I got the biggest buck, an 11 point, I've ever seen in the woods. He came by my stand chasing a doe at 25-30 yards. One shot through both shoulders and the heart, 5 yards later he was on the ground. I won't get into too much detail about what the 'ol pump station looked like...but let's just say it looked A LOT different than it did before I shot him. These slugs definitely have devastating performance, and hopefully I get to try them out again before the season is through. Very accurate as well!!"

THE BEST HANDS DOWN,November 5, 2008
By Phystechfrom Western NY and South Jersey hunter
"I have been using them for over 6 years now. I have tried numerous others - Remington, Hornady, and others. I will never switch. The knockdown power, speed and accurracy for a slug is awesome. I shot them from my Mossberg viking slug gun (rifled barrel) with a 4x scope. 1 shot -1 kill. They provide superb knock down. Close shots less than 50 yards usually result in a complete pass through. I have killed deer out to 150 yards and quartering away - End result is always the same - Deer down. tight gouping in my gun! Well worth the extra money I have to pay for the best!!! If you want performance, grouping and knock down - You better get yourself a few boxes and enjoy the end result."

Great knockdown power but expensive.,October 1, 2008
By Anonymousfrom NE Illinois
"Have used this slug for a couple years, with good results. Accuracy is good and knockdown power is great, with all deer shot going less then 50 yards, some fell in their tracks. However, I could not afford to sight in with slugs at such a high price. I get equal performance from Hornady at half the price."

The best,January 16, 2008
By Guideboyfrom Liberty Hill, TX
"I’v used this slug since it first came on the market and it’s still the most accurate out of my slug guns. I got all excited with the Winchester and Federal polymer tipped slugs coming on the market. I purchased both and they don’t seem to be as accurate and definitely not anymore accurate at any range then the Winchester Supreme Partition Gold Slugs. I’ve learned that you have to shoot several brands to find the one that shoots best out of your slug barrel. Slugs are still slugs, although they‘ve come a long way in the last 15 years as far as accuracy and range go they are still a long way from being as consistent as rifle ammo. But this one is the best for my money."

Winchester Supreme Partition Gold Slugs,January 16, 2008
By askcfrom mich
"I found the performance of these slugs very consistent both on the bench and in the field. I had very tight groupings on the bench out to and beyond 150 yards. Impact on deer was excellent with no deer running farther than 20 yards. Slug retreval show excelent expansion. My only complaint was I found then hard to find and a little expensive."

Winchester Supreme Partion Gold Slugs,January 14, 2008
By sharpknife
"Winchester Supreme Partion Gold Sabots are accurate, powerful, and lethal. My Benelli SBE with a scoped, rifled barrel is more like a rifle than a slug gun using the 3" sabot slugs. So far five shots have harvested five Whitetails- three dropped, two ran a short distance(double- lung shots). I have complete confidence in this ammo. You get what you pay for; this ammo is a real value."

great ammo,January 8, 2008
By Tburtfrom Virginia
"I shot these slugs (2 3/4") through a Hastings slug barrel, and I love the results. Great on the range and even better in the field. Every deer I have shot has dropped in its tracks. Gotta love that kind of recovery. A coyote came up on me last weekend while I was deer hunting on the last day and can attest to the devestation these slugs impose-WOW. Worth the price."

Partition Gold in Brush,December 26, 2007
By OleBillfrom Illinois
"I have been shooting the 2 3/4" Partition Gold Sabot thru my 12 ga. Beretta A303 with Hastings rifled barrel and Burris Fullfield scope for the past 4 years. I have harvested several nice bucks but the one I was most impressed with was a nice 8 pt. with heavy body, he weighed over 240 lbs. field dressed. I shot the deer at about 85 yards thru some light brush, hit him slightly quartering away on the mark, and the slug flipped him upside down, all four legs pointing in the air. He had two does with him and after being down for 10-15 seconds, legs quivering, he somehow managed to get to his feet and stumble about 15 yards before pile up. What a tough buck, but the 385 grain partition did it's thing. I like the round for power and shooting thru brush, but I feel accuracy could be better, I group about 3.5" at 100 yards. and 2" 50 yards which is ok for my style of hunting. I would also use the round on black bear, great knock down power."
