remington buckhammer,

"I shot all sorts of slugs out of my 870 rem shotgun using a rem factory rifled barrle and nikon slug hunter scope and nothing shot anywere as nice as groups as the buckhammers. I tried hornady remington core lokt all the winchester sabots and the new fusion slugs the fusions in my opinion were junk because they rattle around loose in the hull? go figure. I am able to keep 2 inch groups at hundered yards wich is plenty far for deer hunting in WI. they do have tremondus knockdown power to. I shot a doe at 60 yards facing me went through the right shoulder and lodged in the left rear qaurter under the skin. plus the dont cost a arm and a leg to buy. and if sighted in at fifty yards they match the rectile in the nikon slug hunter. peaple get all hyped up on speed and light but if it doesnt group whats the point. look at some of the old riffles like the 45 70 358 win all very slow rifles but really pack a wallop. even arrows with out the kinetic energy from the wieght of the arrow. it is usles so just shoot what works best for you and take the time to find the right sabot for your shotgun youll be tickeld at the accuracy when you find the right one"

"I found these slugs at Cabela's and because they were much cheaper than others, I tried them. I used the 3 inch in my H&R 20 ga. and they grouped well. I have not used them on deer yet but I'm confident they will be awesome !!!"

BuckHammer 3" Slugs,

"All I can say is wow!!! This past Monday was opening day of bear season and I was lucky enough to get a shot as one crossed a creek at 6pm. I was going to use my rifle but because of pouring rain I opted to go with my 870 12ga with a 24" rifled barrel and fiber optic sights. The first shot was square in the shoulder and it rolled him completely over. He still got up and I shot him again and that was it. When we skinned him out we found both shoulders were destroyed. The second shot entered high in the rump and traveled to the base of the neck. The second shot left a quarter sized hole all the way to where it stopped. The slug from the first shot broke apart but considering what it plowed through and the hard to explain damage it done it's easy to say WOW!!!"

Very Accurate Slug,

"I have been searching for the right slugs for my 870 I have shot all the Winchester's, Hornady and the higher Remington's, but the buckhammers performed the best out of my gun under a 2" group at 100 yards. I was amazed at the size of the whole that it punched in paper can't wait to see what it will do on a deer."

"I was looking to lighten my load deer hunting so i switched from a 12 ga with copper solids to a 870 youth 20 ga with buckhammers and it really worked. I lost 1 lb of gun but kept the same energy at the muzzle with no noticeable difference in group size at 25 yds."

Down for the count...,

"I run with a Mossberg 500 piecer with a rifled barrel and nikon monarch scope. I've pretty much doubled the value with a few addons and the scope. But the gun takes a lickin and keeps on ticking.
I had the worst trouble trying to zero in sabots for this gun. Everything from Brenneke, Winchesters, and high end Remingtons. These sabots take the cake though. I've pretty much got 1-2 inch groups from 50-100 yards depending on my tweeking. For the price and hitting power, these are it bar none. I can't believe they are still this cheap with the price of lead jumping around the way it is. These sabots pack a whole lotta lead and have had the biggest exit wounds of any of the sabots I've used on deer. A friend of my was using the new Hornady SSTs and was having trouble dropping deer right away. My deer would usually drop within the first 20-40 yards after being hit and his would keep on moving for a bit before finally bleeding out. Comparing entrance/exits wounds on the Buckhammer vs SSTs could be compared with a quarter size hit vs a dime hole for the SSTs."

"These are very accurate slugs, they shoot better than copper solids out of my mossberg 500c slug gun, tight groups 1" at 50 yards, nice power, I would not hesitate to recomend them to anyone. Their only short coming is the amount of drop they have."

WOW! and ouch...,

"These slugs are awesome! Just got back from the range this evening from zeroing in my Browning BPS w/a 3inch and 2x7 Nikon Monarch scope. The gun was shooting 2 inch groups at 50 yards in no time. After getting it to shoot good on paper, for kicks I decided to try the 200yard ram at our range. First round held a foot and a half over and just shot under the ram, 2nd round 2 feet over its back and ding! Killed the ram. Never would try that in a real hunting situation but from a 100 yards in these rounds are seriously accurate and will be devastating. Can't wait for gun seaon to come in and give these a try. Be prepared for the recoil though, shot 10 rounds today and my shoulder is killing me..."

"Just traded my 30.06 for a H&R Ultra Slug Gun, 20 gauge. Wanted to try something new. Didnt know anything about slugs. Read all the reviews on every sabot slug. These were the "cheapest" i could find. Bought five boxes. Shot 2" group @ 100 yards. I dug the slug from the dirt bank to see what it looked like. 1 1/2 inch in diameter. Cant wait to try it out on a deer this season."

"Very accurate out of my Mossberg model 500. I have a fully rifled barrel and a 4 power simmons scope. 100 yard groups are 1 inch spread for three rounds shooting from a shooting rest. Be prepared for the recoil!!! I will be adding a better recoil pad to my shotgun for these rounds."

REMINGTON BUCKHAMMER SLUGS,
August 3, 2009
By bobbarbilly
from TENN
|
"I have a new Remington 11-87 with a scope and I went through probably $125.00 worth of other brands of high-dollar sabots trying to zero it with very poor results. A friend recommended the Buckhammers. I looked several places locally and could not find any of them so I ordered them from Cabelas. BAM!!! Long story short, I have not shot at a deer with them as of yet but I do believe that I could drive a nail with them at 60 yards. Case closed."

"Very good product. I am able to keep 2.75" groups at 100 yrds. Firearm used, 2008 Remington 870 express slug gun with 3x9x40 scope supported on a bench. Product works well in the field. Has incredible knock down power at 130 to 150 yards. I Have not been in the position to try the product on game over that distance."

Remington Buckhamer 3" 12 Ga. Slugs,
May 6, 2009
By Vonelliott
from Kennesaw, GA.
|
"Easily holds 3" to 4" groups out to 100 meters from my Winchester 1300 Camp Defender with rifled choke tube and factory iron sights. Would probably improve with advanced optics and fully rifled barrel. Hard to believe it's sending a 600 grain plus chunk of lead down range a 1500 fps. muzzle velocity until you pull the trigger. Recoil is brutal, but expected with those ballistics. Would probably not be that noticeable when shooting at live game or dangerous adversary. I would have no reserve in using this load against any game on the North American Continent within the 100 meter limit."

buck hammers hammer your nose with a scope,

"My dad bought some 2 3/4 in. buck hammers to sight in a scope. One of them clicked when he pulled the trigger, two others made the scope hit his nose from the recoil. He had to move his head back so far that he couldn't get a full sight picture in the scope. He switched to an other kind and never had a problem."

Knock down power!,

"I use these slugs in my grandfathers 40 year old 12ga. wingmaster with a new remington 20 inch factory slug barrel on it. I have tried several rounds at the range and got the best grouping with these at 50 yards. My best group was aboout 1.5 inches which isnt bad when using iron sights. To date i have shot and killed 3 deer with this slug and only one has managed to not to drop. These slugs tear deer up. The last one i shot was quartering away at about 7 yards and the bullet literally gutted the deer for me. The entrance hole was about 6 inches across and the deer dropped. These bullets are kind of exspensive but worth it. P.S. these slugs kick like a mule on steriods so just beware"

Amazing results!,

"I bought a 20 gauge slug gun this year, and the buckhammer slugs performed better than I could have imagined. We took the gun out four times, and got an animal each day...pronghorn buck, whitetail buck, mule deer buck, and bull elk. 4 days, 4 shots, 4 clean kills. Great accuracy too, every animal was hit exactly where we aimed. First a neck shot on a pronghorn after sneaking to within 40 yards, then a 90-yard lung shot on a whitetail buck, then a 30 yard shot in the back of the head on a bedded mule deer buck, and finally a 60-yard lung shot on an elk. Great penetration too for a 20 gauge. The only slug I recovered was one that barely clipped the back edge of both shoulders of the elk, and caught under the hide on the far side. Total pass-through on the whitetail, even at 90 yards. Very low recoil (but I have a ported barrel). What a maiden season for my new gun! I just ordered 4 more boxes, they're great."
