great outdoor coat,March 23, 2009
By replacementcoatfrom S. Oklahoma
"When I loaned a jacket to a friend and he lost it, I was upset until he offered to replace it. It was no longer available, but I was able to find this jacket that I like better. I needed a jacket for casual wear, but also to layer and zip into my shell for heavy cold conditions and skiing. while this jacket does not match up the zippers, it works great under my ski shell, and is a wonderful jacket by itself in less extreme conditions. I recently used it at the ski slopes for thee days of skiing. I was able to easily regulate the temperature by using the pit vents and front zippers. I also loved the inside velcro pockets to keep ski hat and snacks and other items close at hand and easy to get to, yet secure from becoming lost on the slopes. Plus, the price was great and shipping was quick."
A good, light-weight jacket,March 10, 2009
By WLBiologistfrom White Mountain Area, Arizona
"Overall, the Polartec Classic 300 ECWCS spec. jacket is a good product. It is lightweight, warm, and well proportioned in size. One minor issue is that the unlined material in the sleeves does not slide very easily when wearing other textured clothes layers, expecially polypropylene and short napped pile or wool clothing. I generally need to gently pull on the fabic or twist my arms alittle inside the sleeves to unbind the material for a more comfortable fit. Once this is done, the Large/Tall size fits me well, with ample room in the sleeves and body. Perhaps this issue can be remedied with the addition of a lightweight, nylon sleeve lining to reduce the cling effect of the material to other clothing. The jacket works well when worn alone as a light jacket in calm to light winds and as a mid-layer under a hardshell in harsher conditions. The loden color, as advertised, is actually closer to a medium-dark sage in appearance. In the catalog and in the web site pictures, it also appears slightly greener than what it is."
"Great fleece but sizes run a little large. I would have given 5 stars but I think the price is a little high for the product once I saw it in person."
"I have enjoyed all of the items I ordered. I fishred for steelhead in cold windy conditions in Nov on the John Day River. Best layered goods I've ever had. Excellent warmth and retention. I like it so much I went out and bought the only layer I didn't purchase. I look forward to more cold weather use of this 4 layer system. My Balacava did an excellent job for me as well. sighned, Montana 8 for Christmas"
A little breezy,December 15, 2008

"Nice jacket, good fit. At 6'3" 235 I ordered an XL tall. Wore it in recent 10 degree weather with 30 mph wind with short sleeved shirt on cutting wood. Noticed a little wind coming through vent zippers in sleeves but nothing I couldn't deal with."

"I wore this as an under garment for the first four days of our deer season. Temps were in the lo 20's to mid 30's with a lot of wind. Very warm and comfortable. I am 6-2 and 225 lbs and the XL Tall is plenty large for me. It seems like it will last for many seasons. A great product."
Warm, but not comfortable.,November 12, 2008

"I wouldn't recommend this jacket for anyone over 6' tall, even in the tall sizes. I'm 6'1", and this is way too short for my taste. I ordered the medium tall size, and yet it falls a little bit above my waist. I can't stand any jacket to be right at my waist or above, and since I ordered the tall size, I expected it to be at least long enough to be comfortable. Also, the armpit zippers are a bit rigid and annoying."

"I recently bought this product from the Omaha store. As a former Arctic soldier from Alaska this prododuct is very similar to the E.C.W.C.S that we were issued to wear under our gortex. Great product, very warm, I only wish that you had pants to match that could be worn under a shell covering"
Great Jacket,October 23, 2008
By Tommefrom Delaware
"I really love this jacket. it is extremely warm, grat for layering. My only complaint is that its a little short at the waist. I do not wear a tall in any other clothing, but feel that may have been better for this jacket."
"I have returned this jacket, as I misjudged the size and have requested the same jacket in a smaller size. I will do another review once receive the proper size."

"Love the jacket. Living in Texas, and ordering in june, I haven't needed it. It is well made, and fits and functions as well if not better than similar jackets priced much more than this one."

"This jacket is top notch. Better than the one I had before from another company. Cabelas really did it up right! There are more features like drawstring waistcord and velcro sleeve tabs. Fits great for layering underneath. Would recommend to anyone!!!"
Very good - but,July 21, 2008

"Excellent product but: Stitching on one sleeve (velcro) was defective and required immediate repair. This is strong velcro and requires stronger stitching. Prefer more colour choice than just black or loden (khaki)."

"This coat is very warm in colder temperatures. The only drawback is that the sleeves are not lined and it is a bit of a bother putting it on over long sleeved shirts as the jacket pulls the sleeves up your arm. Other than that, it is just what I expected."
Level 4 jacket,April 7, 2008
By woodmanjohnfrom Northern Michigan
"It is exactly what I wanted to complete layering for winter Steelhead and ice fishing. It fits well and is not bulky even with the level 2 and level 3 layers underneath it. It works as a light weight jacket for daily use as well. When windy is does need a shell to keep out the wind. It is not advertised as wind proof so that was expected. Very light weight."

"This is the second jacket that I have purchased. My original one was black this one was the Loden color... on this one they put velcro on the inside pocket. I like this feature for holding lightweight items in. The material on this one is more like a smooth micro fiber...."
