a great book for any duck hunter,
November 20, 2008
By EastOntarioduckhunter
from eastern ontario canada

"I was lent this book by a friend and found it so useful that I purchased it. It is also handy for decoy carvers as it is concise and to the point about differences between species and male and female of the same species.
Also great for a young hunter just getting started."

"Get one for you, get one for your buddy so he's not always saying everything's a gadwall, get one for your kids so they stop asking what's that and instead start picking out birds by flight patterns. It's got everything to id waterfowl in your hand or in flight."

No Method,
August 18, 2008
By gibi
from Oregon
|
"This is no actual "method" discribed in this book. The description made me think that it would give me a step by step process to identify waterfowl, but it did not. I'm sure that I can recognize the most common ducks and geese now, I will have to wait until after my first duck hunting season this year to tell whether it was a good purchase or not."

Helpful Field ID Guide,
July 15, 2008
By Southerner
from Louisiana
|
"This is a guide intended primarily to identify ducks which have been killed. Very useful to identify ducks by bill, wing, and head patterns. Also offers a description of flight patterns. Only downside is it would not be very durable in the field."

"This book is awesome. I easily identified several different ducks the first morning. The only improvement I would suggest for the book is for it to be laminated. You have to be careful about keeping it dry and blood free."

I D Book,

By BidDave
from Rowlett, Tx

"Nice to have in the field. Easily carried in a backpack or blind back for quick I.D. of that unknown waterfowl. Would be nice to have more color photos, but the lifesize images of each species bill works very well and makes I.D. easy for anyone."

"100% excellent for ID'ing birds in hand. It's the best i've seen out there. If you're considering getting this, just get it. for the price, you can't afford not to have it in your bag. only reason i give it 4 stars is because i would still like to see a book out there with in flight color photos."

Duck ID Book,
October 30, 2007
By CalifHuntr
|
"The Waterfowl ID Book is a very handy tool to have in the field. The Duck Bill Page is really all I need to identify the ducks. Last weekend I used the book to identify several ducks I normally do not get. Our group had shot drake and hen ring necks and redheads, a canvasback, and the more common teal, gadwall, and mallard. My only complaint is that the book is not waterproof. A book meant for the field should be made out of something better than cheap paper."

Waterfoul ID book,

By oldshep

|
"This book is really great if you are new to duck hunting like myself. It's a perfect size (about 4.5 by 7 inches) to shove in a pocket and full of pictures of ducks and the different colors of their heads during the year to help identify birds, it even gives a ball park idea of flight levels of the different species. This book is full of more information than I expected and would recommend this to new and old hunters alike."
