"Bought this pad for an old surplus rifle I was restoring. Once fitted it worked great. However, be warned that the company sells a jig for grinding this pad, and I didn't find that out until after I received the pad! Also, I defintely recommend you use a mounted or benchtop kind of sander, the old sanding block or disc grinder isn't a good idea for this. Lastly, the finished look of the pad isn't shiny as pictured. You can clean it up reasonably well, but if you are looking for a show piece this isn't it."

"I hunted many years with my Ruger MK II in .270. I loved the accuracy and feel of the rifle, but hated the recoil as it interfered with my shooting. For some reason, this rifle kicked harder that other rifles I shoot that are in a higher caliber. After reading the reviews on this site, I had a gunsmith install one of this recoil pads as installation seemed to be the biggest complaint. After using my Ruger again all hunting season, I can honestly say that the recoil pad has made a world of difference in both my shooting and my enjoyment of this rifle. I would definitely recommend the LimbSaver recoil pad to anyone who wants a more enjoyable hunting and shooting experience."

"Just as with their archery products, this recoil pad absorbs a great amount of felt recoil on my Remington 11-87. A soft shooting auto loader to begin with, the Limb Saver pad makes the gun a pleasure to shoot all day. If your gun has some bite, this pad will help remove it's teeth."

"The Limbsaver grind to fit is time consuming and requires additional equipment. First you need a recoil pad jig sold by Brownell's and Midway to get best results. Then you need a table mounted belt sander. You need both a 80 or 120 grit belt to get the excess material off then a 180 or 220 grit belt to finish. WD40 is also recommended to keep the belts cool (if not the material balls up and chunks come off the pad). Then when you feel you have gotten as close as possible to the wood use a sanding block with 220 or finer grit to finish. Amoural or some other polish will also bring out a professional look. It is a slow process and tedious but it looks great if you take your time. If you're in a hurry or recoil reduction is not as much of a consideration us one of the other common brands of recoil pads."

"I have purchased the Limbsaver slip on pads (3) and been very happy. The grind to fit pad has only half the kick stopping power of the slip on. The rubber compound comes out rough even when following directions to a tee. I had to cover the entire pad with electrical tape."
